No, im not hyping up Carl because of one good game, but what kind of player do you think he can become? A consistent jump shot, a good rebounder, great finisher, and showing much improved defense as well as offense from last year. I am excited about Carl and his potential to become an allstar in this league. Well, maybe that is a little to much of an expectation. Am I the only one who sees a player resembling New Orlean's David West?
He's about as good as he will get on the offensive side. He needs to improve his low-post defense though.
I think he is about as good as he is going to get, unless he gets alot more playing time. He was working on a three point shot, but I don't think thats a great idea for his game. It would draw him away from the paint where he is most effective.
Amare. He can definitely be as good as Amare if there is Nash playing pick and roll with him night in and night out.
He's a way better athlete than West. If Landry played with Paul and averaged 35 mins a game like West does, he might average 20/10.
because of his lack of height he has to first develop a go-to hook shot or turnaround fadeaway in order to expand his game in the paint....
I think that Landry has been very explosive as of late as seen in this game since coming back from the extended rest of the sprained ankle. I think this extra rest has allowed him to come back with much more agility than he had shown earlier in the season. While he was still being the consistent energy-bringing player earlier in the season, he was taking many more jumpshots and less dunking. Tonight, we saw explosive bursts of basket attacking and limited to no jumpshots. Overall, Landry can play well either way, and his contributions are welcomed because his playing style always seems to fit well with whatever the defense gives him.
He can get better on offense. We've seen a little more post ups for him this year, and that should continue to develop. I hope he stays a Rocket, but I think he'd be our best trade piece this offseason and next season.
West is definitely a good comparison because Landry's moves are a bit stiff, but he has better hops. He just needs to work on his dribbling and take footwork notes from scola and he can definitely become a player like West.
I think he needs to add at least one go-to post move in the post and the ability to get to the rim from 15-16 feet out. He is a bit undersized and I'm surprised that his hops and strength don't negate that better. He still plays small when a larger PF defends him down low and makes it a priority to stop him. His jumper is nice, his defense is improving and I think realistically he *could* be a 16/9 guy but probably not on this team due to lack of minutes. If he remains a Rocket I think his stats will not improve much but his impact could increase significantly as he picks up some tricks from the vets and continues to polish his skills. And for those who are undoubtedly going to push for him to become a 3 point shooting PF, I disagree in advance.
Carl Landry is really good.. but sometimes im thinking how is he better than Josh Powell, their game is very similar and Josh Powell is as good as Carl in all aspects , but Josh Powell cann't get any PT; maybe that just indicates how deep Lakers are
His size prevents him from being able to establish good position in the paint. He actually has decent moves down there, but he is too small to be a consistant post up threat at his position. He's at his best moving without the ball, setting screens, and crashing the board. Hes so active. Posting him takes away from his game.
Landry to me is more mobile than powell and his game is a little more diverse. I think some of that could be due to the fact that powell doesnt see consistant minutes and he's still trying to find his way. Landry has a pretty good grasp of what he needs to do out there.
