    Ok, with the playoffs upcoming I really thought of asking a question on how the simming goes.

    What I was wondering about was if there was an option to specify deeper what a GM would do under different circumstances. First question is if it possible to change the rotation during a game, or is it just these are the Rosters - hit a button - and there you have the results for tonight games? Secondly if it is possible - would you mind doing some extra work since it is the playoffs? What I was thinking of was if I did do a scenario of what I would do countering what was happening in the game. Example: Pull the starters in last 5 mins or so if my team was up by X points to rest them, or counter a lead by the other team by changing starters at halftime?

    I know this is asking much, but most of this is out of curiousity - as in can it be done in the simulation. And second is of course - If it can be done - will you do the extra work of doing it - and under what guidelines? (what info would we have do submit) An other question would be - if it was possible - does the game take into consideration that you have rested players - or is the only positive from resting players that they don't get injured for that time atleast.

    Ok, that was mostly a question just for me to get to know the game - I really would not expect you to do all that work even if that was possible. but then again it would be cool.

    But I do want the playoffs to be something special compared to the season and I dont know how many playoff games you sim each day in during the playoffs (just a game, or the complete series). What I would really want to do if you do a complete series is to stipulate what starters/rotation I use for each game based on what results have been in the previous games. Part of the reason I want to do this is to get to learn my team, and I think being in the east I can get away with some experiments in the first round - or atleast I hope. It would be shooting myself in the foot if me screwing around with the team would get me eliminated. [IMG]

    And do you know how the game considers screwing around like this, if at all. (I would not like to get my starters pissed - does the game even consider stuff like that)

    To give you an example of what I have in mind:

    For the first game of the playoff I would like this roster change.

    CN Mutombo, Geiger, Jones
    PF Hill, Lynch
    SF Howard, McLeod
    SG Marion, Snow, McKie
    PG Iverson, Nash

    btw this got me thinking - can we cut down on the rotation in the playoffs by remove players from list. As in they are on the playoff roster but get DNP's - Coach desicion.

    but back on track - what I then would based on the result of playoff game 1: ...

    Loss = Toss all experiments - get me back my previous roster.

    Win scenario 1 = New Experiment A
    Win scenario 2 = New Experiment B

    Ok, you get the drift. Could you this on a game to game basis if I outline the scenarious?

    Another roster I could think of trying could be:

    CN: Mutombo, Hill, Jones
    PF: Marion, Lynch, Geiger
    SF: Iverson, Howard, McLeod
    SG: Snow, McKie
    PG: Nash, (McKie)

    Well - thats enough mad thinking for me. If Rudy can flash a 3 guard rotation why can't I [IMG] - WWRD? (do this spell doom?)

    Btw my 3 man on the injury list just now is: Ollie, Buford and MacCulloch - I guess they can not be activated during the playoffs or? Come to think of it, if this is the case I might want to send Jones to the IR, and activate Ollie or Buford.

    Heath,

    I will be simming the first two games of every first round series tomorrow. We will go a little faster later on in the playoffs, but for right now while everyone is in I want to give everyone a chance to see how the playoffs work, how their players perform in the playoffs (playoff stats), and also to give any GM in an 0-2 hole one game away from being eliminated one final chance to try a new lineup.

    Your idea is not bad, however I can only do it for one, possibly two teams a day due to time constraints. Typically, I load the rosters the way you guys tell me, and then push the sim button. Easy as that. For me to do in game adjustments, I would have to let the computer play the game on my TV at home. I can do other stuff while it's going on of course, but because I have the game set on 12 minute quarters it would take at least an hour and a half for me to actually let it play out on my TV. If I let it play out on my TV, I can come in at halftime, end of the game, etc. and put the rosters as you would like. But because obviously I'm not at home all the time and it takes approx 1.5 hours to play out a game, I can only do that for one, maybe two games a day so if you want that for your game let me know early.

    There will be some new wrinkles for the playoffs if everyone stays involved, like we have all season... keep it going! Some include playoff stats, box scores for some games, reports from me if I decide to watch a team for a quarter or so, roster changes on a game by game basis, other things you can think of, etc.

    The game knows which players are fresh and need rest, and usually, especially in blowout situations, puts in all fresh players and rests the starters, usually the ones tired.

    I know players are rated for intensity on the game, etc... but I don't think it would be used negatively if minutes decreased, etc. I'll tell you one thing though... really watch out on that second lineup with Iverson at SF. Most players on the game have a natural position and a secondary position... sometimes a third. If you try to play them at none of the above you can get in some trouble... like the 6'0 Iverson would be against 6'9 and up SFs. Also, as a tip... if possible you might want to consider keeping Howard off the bench to match up with some of the backup forwards. His 6th man of the year award shows he really did well there. Also, be aware Iverson most likely won't shoot quite as much from the point guard position... he'll be the main distributor so you better be confident that your other players can score too. Anyway, enough advice from me.

    Give me the scenarios you'd like to use for each game (remember I'll be simming 2 tomorrow) and I'll change your lineup as much as you want. You can activate players off the IR during the playoffs. I don't know of a way to actually give people DNP-CD's, but what I can do for you and anyone else who wants that is put those players you don't want playing on one of the extra teams the game has that isn't in the league. (not an NBA team, like a custom team) This would essentially allow you more IR spots for your team, and you are free to activate whomever and deactive whomever as many times as you please. Hope this helps some of your questions...

    Thanks for the reply. Just interessting to know that it is possible. But its not that big a deal if you have to play out the games on your TV in real time. I thought if there was some chance that everything went fast where you coulf throw in some stops, at halftime, after 3rd, midway through 4th and so on and possibly do changes if needed then. If you see what I mean.

    And thanks for giving me your guidelines on my whacky rotations, what I was trying to do was go a bit Rudy T. on my team creating a 3 guard setup to get whacky matchups. Like Mooch, Steve and Cat creates for the Rockets (or any of the 3 guard linups). Putting Iverson as the SF-guard might not been the smartest move, but is it enough for me to specify a 3 guard starters and you choose the one best suited to guard opposing SF's? Or perhaps my guards are not the best set of guards to be creating a 3 guard setup with?

    Thanks also for the info about Howard as a 6th man - thats really hammering it in on me giving him the 6th man award and tiping me that I should consider him as a punch of the bench. I think I will do that for later rounds for sure. (If I qualify after my whacky experiments)

    Ok lets make this an official experiment then (It is sufficent that I put it here, or do I have to do it through the formal roster change thread?)

    Game 1 Roster:
    CN: Mutombo, Geiger
    PF: Hill, Lynch
    SF: Howard, McLeod, Buford (activated Jones to IR)
    SG: Marion, Snow, McKie
    PG: Iverson, Nash

    Game 2 Roster: (If loss in game 1)
    CN: Mutombo, Geiger
    PF: Hill, Lynch
    SF: Marion, Howard
    SG: Iverson, McKie
    PG: Snow, Nash

    Rest get DNP's-Coachs Desicion (transfer them to custom team)

    Game 2 Roster (If win in game 1)
    CN: Mutombo, Hill
    PF: Lynch, Howard
    SF: Marion, McLeod, Buford
    SG: McKie, Nash
    PG: Iverson, Snow

    Geiger get DNP-Coach Desicion (transfer to custom team)

    So if I get lucky I can get two wins from this and go all out on the next game... [IMG] (I wonder how Iverson would do at center... [IMG] j/k)

    And do you think you can give me some info on my fringe players? I do not know that much about them. McLeod is he a SF or PF or both - or am I totally of? [IMG] And who of my guards would be best suited to start at SF - who is the tallest? What about Ollie (not for starter), but is he more a PG or SG and is he tall?

    Damn I think I need a Cat to pull of a 3 guard rotation - who got him? [IMG]

    Or perhaps my guards are not the best set of guards to be creating a 3 guard setup with?

    Not unless McKie is the one playing the SF. Playing Snow, Nash, and Iverson at the same time wouldn't work out too well. Cat is at least 6'4... big difference when you're talking about Ivy at 6'0. Your rosters are fine here, don't worry about posting them somewhere else.

    And do you think you can give me some info on my fringe players? I do not know that much about them. McLeod is he a SF or PF or both - or am I totally of? And who of my guards would be best suited to start at SF - who is the tallest? What about Ollie (not for starter), but is he more a PG or SG and is he tall?

    Mcleod can play both forward spots, but is more of an SF. He actually had some real good games starting at SF for the Hawks last year. McKie is definitely your tallest guard and best bet to start at SF. Ollie is reasonably sized, 6'2 around I think, but is pretty much a pure PG from what I've seen of him. Kings have Cat btw.

    VOR,

    Will get you those stats around noon tomorrow probably. I'm not at home right now, and won't be until late tonight, so I can't check stats right now. Tomorrow I have to get up very early to go to church and work to get everything set up TV-wise (I do a lot in getting it on the air) and can't afford to get anything wrong on Easter Sunday with about three times the normal viewers... so I probably won't be able to do stats until noon or an hour or two afterwards. I will leave hopefully around a six hour gap between that and when I sim the first two games... so that everyone has time to get ready.

    Well, actually I can tell you who you have on your roster besides starters and Kukoc, just can't give stats right now.

    Eisley
    Booth
    Bradley
    Buckner
    Maxwell
    Trent
    D. Harvey
    Najera
    Wang

    I'm pretty sure you haven't traded any of these guys right? I went and looked in the trades section and I couldn't find any of these guys dealt by you, so this should be your bench. Like I said, I'm not at home, but this should be it.

    He got Wang? I know he is playing for Mavs now, but was he a part of the game, or did you have to create him? I would not have imagined that the game had put in a player that might never gotten out of China [IMG]

    I created him... I want it to be as realistic as possible so when someone comes in from the CBA, overseas, wherever I put him on the game.

    And thanks again for your input. Now I've created my small-ball lineup for game 3 if I won the first two games.

    Mutombo, Hill, Geiger
    Marion, Lynch
    McKie, Howard, McLeod
    Iverson, Buford
    Snow, Nash

    How do you think Hill plays at Center? With the injuries Sixers struggled with this season I guess he had some time there -and then again - its the East I might as well put Ollie in at Center. [IMG]

    Can I have the PLAYOFF numbers of all of my players?

    I might want to shorten my bench.

    All I want to do is place Ostertag in the backup C spot and move Officer Polynice to 3rd string.

    Eisley= 15 minutes, 5.3 pts, 2.3 asst
    Bradley= 18 minutes, 6 pts, 4 reb, 1.5 blocks
    Wright= 21 minutes, 7.4 pts, 4.5 reb
    Trent= 15 minutes, 7.2 pts, 2 reb
    Buckner= 15 minutes, 4.8 pts, 2 reb
    Booth= 11 minutes, 2.7 pts, 3.1 reb, 1 block

    The rest of your guys are on IR... (besides your top 6 of Kidd, Finley, Miles/Kukoc, Dice, Fortson)
