Make them the way you want your team to look-- you can shape your starting lineup, bench, etc. to however you want it. For how to format it, just look at my roster right here.

    C- Olajuwon, Cato, Rogers
    PF- Taylor, Thomas
SF- S. Anderson, W. Williams, Bullard, Langhi
    SG- Mobley, Francis
    PG- Francis, Norris, Colson*

If your team has over 12 players, please designate with an asterick (*) which one to put on the IR. Please reply below with rosters. Thanks.

Can I play Dirk at center, he does get good minutes there. or does NBA live have problems with that??

You can play Dirk at center without any problems. I'll shift his position for you.

So we can shift positions, but can we shift them often (game-to-game basis) or just once.

I also have a question regarding the players that play games. I don't have NBA Live, but I got that starters got most minutes. How does subs go. Will the game sub for you (take best available) or do we have to state who goes where or rank subs 6, 7, 8 ... - and who of the subs that will get most mins? Can we say that we use an X man rotation or... You get the drift - I'm a rookie.

You can shift rosters for an individual game or for longer-- let me know however long you want your player out of position. The game subs by fatigue, foul trouble, matchups, etc. Game automatically takes the best player off the bench of the position in need and puts him in. Now what you need to tell me about is situations like this... say you have 3 SFs and 1 SG, and you need a backup SF to play backup SG. You need to show this in your lineup so I know to convert his playerfile information to his new position-- otherwise he might be ignored. The game will sub for you automatically, and the best subs do get more minutes. However, what you need to determine is who backs up who at what spot so I can get that set for you.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I will have to find out where I need backing up, and put players in the best pattern.

Now I only need a couple more guidelines:

Clearly McKie is currently my 6th man. Is it possible for me to have him as a guard backup, or do I need to specify that if Iverson goes out for a few mins McKie enters as my SG. If players can only play one position in a match I think I will have to let McKie go as a PG to backup Snow as I guess the game is smart and let Iverson and other stars play next to all minutes while roleplayers subs more often, or?

    Heath,

The best thing to do is specify him as your PG backup, so he'll get more minutes. The game knows what players are versatile, so at times he'll play SG behind Iverson, but your safest bet to get him the most minutes would be playing him at backup PG.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

Rarely has one player outplayed another the way Olajuwon outplayed David Robinson in their famed playoff series in the same season that Robinson was the league's most valuable player.

That for me, was the performance of a truly great player.
