I knew David would disappear AGAIN! Spurs don't have the Heart of a Champion! As I said in a previous thread, the Spurs are SOFT and David is a WIMP! Give the Lakers credit, they played great defense but Duncan was the only player doing the work. Lakers can go for the SWEEP! Although I said all along the Lakers would win in 5.
Its sad to see a former champion and Texas team to show no heart or burning desire in the Western Conference finals. San Antonio is CHOKE CITY!

No he's not. The Spurs played great with him on the floor. It was the officials that took this one out of the Spurs hands by whistling pure BS calls on Robinson (3 of his 5 fouls as a matter of fact were not even close). Spurs in 6!!!

How come Robinson played less than 30 minutes?

I am glad Shaq did not do well either. At least it shows Hakeem is indeed better facing tough competition.

Why did Robinson play under 30 minutes? The officials wouldn't let him. Completely bogus fouls on him all game took him out of the game and took the Spurs out of it as well.

    Remember in 1995?

Remember in 1999? And how exactly is Robinson supposed to have a big game when the officials won't let him play?

    David Robinson
    7 pts 9 Rebounds and 5 Fouls!
    NUFF SAID!
    What a WIMP!

Only 2 teams to come back from an 0-2 deficit.
1969 Lakers and the 1994 ROCKETS!

Spurs are NOT going to do it.
Barkley even said it tonight after the game!
DAVID IS NOT AGGRESSIVE! But Charles really meant to say he's a P*@!!

I'm not a Laker fan but it makes me mad to see especially a Texas team play with NO HEART!

"Robinson is the SOFTEST CENTER EVER! Remember in 1995?"

-You do realize this is a huge slap in the face of Hakeem, don't you?...Basically you are saying that Hakeem's numbers were achieved against the "softest center ever"

-Robinson is THIRTY FIVE YEARS OLD. Let me repeat that for you: ROBINSON IS 35 YEARS OLD!...Do you remember when Hakeem faced off with Shaq in 99 when Hakeem was 36 and had declined bigtime?...It was UGLY and not because Hakeem was "Soft".

-And the bottomline is that Shaq had a horrible game 2. He was only 8-21. A good part of that was Robinson's defense.

-The Spurs are losing because the LAKERS ARE A BETTER TEAM. Give them a little credit for God's sake. You may hate them but they are one helluva basketball team. They are a MUCH better team than SA. Think about the Spurs!...They have Tim Duncan and a bunch of guys like Robinson, Elliott, Avery, and Porter who are WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY past their prime. All these guys are pushing 40 and have had significant injuries lately.

This is not a case of the Spurs giving anything away. The Lakers are TAKING this series.

Screw David Robinson! He is the biggest p***y ever in any sports. Duncans dumb ass self should realize now at any moment that he should have gone to Orlando with Hill and Tmac! Well he does become a free agent after next year so hopefully he will be smart enough to pick a team with some good young gurads to take the pressure of off him [IMG]

Cat- Did you see some of the fouls (especially the 1st two) vs Shaq. If those were imaginary calls by the officials then I must be blind.
But in David's defense noone can stop Shaq, except Shaq himself. Like the 1st two games of the series he has not played well but still put up decent numbers (still getting alot of rebounds).
It's very weak blaming the officials. The Lakers are just flat out better than the Spurs.

Since alot of numbers are being kicked around, it's worth noting (as the TNT crew has) that the Spurs have a scoring plus when Robinson is on the floor and a minus when he's on the bench. As in many other aspects of life, things are not as bad as they appear to be on the surface. Robinson does a decent job against a much younger, stronger player who is likely to be recognized with the greats.

I don't care much for Shaq's game or personna, but right now NOBODY is stopping him.

No way is it a SLAP in the face because in 1995, Hakeem showed the world that David is a big WUSS!
    LET ME REPEAT TO YOU
Whether you are 35 or 95, it doesn't take much skill to FOUL the person going stong to the basket. Ask Bill Cartwright, Robert Parish, heck even Cato knows that when you have people challenging the basket you make them pay by being physical. David shows NO HEART! As for David's offense, it's common sense to GO STRONG to the basket if your jump shots aren't going in. The worse thing that could happen is you draw a foul on your way to the basket. More importantly, you gain more confidence in your shot and you show the other team you are being physical. Even Dream knows to go strong to the basket if his 15ft jump shots aren't going in.

I have given the Lakers PLENTY of credit in other posts. In fact, I had predicted the Lakers would win in 5 before the series started. My point is that David IS and ALWAYS have been SOFT! He shows no heart and expects Tim Duncan to carry the load. He couldn't do it back then when he didn't have Duncan and he's not getting the job done now. That is why I HAVE NEVER EVER ROOTED FOR THE SPURS! They show absolutely NO HEART!

SA just didn't have the scoring punch last night from anyone besides Duncan. Robinson's fouls were BS, I agree, except for his 3rd one. Juwan Howard won that game for the Lakers. Are you telling me having their 2nd-best scorer in the game wouldn't have put the Spurs over the top last night?

SA did a great job on both Bryant and O'Neal. Duncan is amazing. They needed another scoring threat, but he's in street clothes. Have Fox and Fisher sit out next game to even things up.

Great teams have HEART and can overcome adversity. Great teams have veteran LEADERSHIP that makes their mediocre players excel. To blame their losses to officiating and injured players is a cop out. The Lakers had everything going against them in game 2. The Lakers were 14pts behind, they lost their head coach, they weren't getting the calls by the refs(at first). The Spurs had all the momentum and have NO EXCUSES for losing. With DA in the lineup, it may or may not have changed things but teams with HEART don't make up excuses.

Robinson did try to play aggressive, but he did not do a good job. He is giving dangerous credibility to the statement 'David is Soft'
This was the game in which DRob is supposed to bring it and he failed and failed badly. There may be some calls going in wrong way
but also some came in wrong way. I have been hearing the side line commentators(C sager?) repeatedly say that POP asked Robinson to
guard Shaq and just do that. Look's like robinson took those words to heart. Even
when duncan was being double and triple teamed, Robinson never looked to score those 15 ft jumpers. Had been able to
nail couple of them, lakers would have
second thoughts on double teaming Duncan. Shaq was not even staying close to DRob(I am
talking about those FEW mins DRob was not on
the bench )Ofcourse, this goes for entire
spurs team (other than duncan/daniels).If atleast couple of threes have gone SA way in
4th Qtr, the game would have been more
interesting. Duncan was the only weapon yesterday for SA. everyone else just watched
    him.
I HOPE David Robinson would come back and show up in next couple of games to make this really an interesting series.
I also hope Duncan doesnt have to defend shaq for long time like yesterday 'cos it will certainly wear him down and that mean 'NO CHANCE' for SA.
Great teams show up at uniquely neccessary times. I hope SA does.
    GO SPURS!!

Guys who cry about official get on my nerves.

Nobody complains when Shaq gets fouled almost each and every time he gets the ball.

And Robinson totally lost his cool and nerve in Game 2. Robinson also look so old its pitiful.

But, the same people that believe in conspiracies cry about officials. Thank God I always play against guys like this in the Bronx. How else would I be motivated to take the hacking during the game? The ones that complain about the calls usually get beat up after the game by the local thug. [IMG]

Saying that David Robinson is the softest player ever is weak, the guy has put up awesome numbers his career and is the heart of the Spurs defense, and he is 35 years old. Of course he isn't going to dominate like he used to. There is a reason David Robinson was the key player in the Spurs championship drive. Obviously you don't like San Antonio Rich so I won't get into that, but the Spurs are coming apart for whatever reason. And maybe Robinson being in foul trouble is the reason he didn't play well. The Spurs could very easily come back and win this series, and if Popovich shows some brains and starts AJ and Daniels in the backcourt and run then it will happen.

    LOL.

If there's a list of things I like about this BBS, your optimism is definitely one of them.

The Spurs could still win this, but not in 6.
