Did anyone check out this show last night? I watched most of the first half and taped the rest. Pretty interesting aspect to casino ownership. I like the concept of this show...part reality, part documentary. Definitely better than that abortion of a show, North Shore.
I've got both "American Casino" and "The Casino" TiVo'ed at home. I can't wait to watch them. Is "The Casino" a Mark Burnett (that's his name, right? - Mr. Apprentice) production? If so, I already know I will be hooked.
Drapg, Im still warming up to American Casino. It too is kind of like a documentary/reality. Seems mostly about the employees and how they cope with the day to day operations. Of course there are the scenes were some drunkard gets thrown out on his ass, but that is to be expected.
Sounds interesting. I was hoping it would focus more on the gaming, the clientele and the dealers. But this sounds cool too. As long as we're not stuck with watching the wait staff and kitchen people too much in the creation of the extravagant all-you-can-eat buffets.
I don't want to spoil The Casino for anyone, but it seems awfully scripted...it is on Fox after all. I don't think it's a Burnett production.
lol Actually, a good part of the 1st episode was about the kitchen staff and them having to get a room ready for a convention. Something bad happened that made it seem interesting though. They have focused somewhat on the clientele, but I dont remember much about the dealers.
I'm talking about the one on the Discovery Channel. I didn't know there was one on Fox. The fact that it is on Fox makes me not want to watch it. The one on the Discovery Channel is more like a documentary, not like that scripted nonsense Fox usually barfs up. Plus the manager is hot.
Was this the show last night where Big Chuck picked up a chick at a blackjack table, only to find out that it was a man? If so, that show looked *totally* scripted. I couldn't tell if they were real people or actors. Very bad television.
Yeah, that's the one. I agree that it felt scripted. I mean, Chuck takes the "girl" into his hotel room and lets the cameras follow him in... WTF? The "This has been a Mark Burnett Production" screen came up at the end.
Chuck agreed to let the cameras follow him so I don't think that part was scripted. The odds of Fox following a guy who picks up a dude...that didn't seem right.
Then how do you explain how the same exact hoes that were sitting with Chuck were the same hoes in the room with the frat boys?

the "dude" had a microphone in his/her dress when they were kissing.....at least that is what it looked like. had to be staged....but the show was okay also...north shore was entertaining...lots of hot chicks in bikini's.

At the center of the series will be entrepreneurs Timothy Poster and Thomas Breitling, whose Travelscape.com start-up website help revolution the travel industry in the late 1990's. Having become multimillionaires after selling their company to Microsoft's Expedia unit in 2000, Breitling and Poster have decided to use part of their fortunes to fulfill their life-long dream by purchasing the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, as well as its sister property on the Colorado River in Laughlin, NV. Together they are betting that they can create the same sort of classic Las Vegas experience that was so prevalent in Vegas' glory days. "Our goal is to provide customers with the type of service that they cannot find anywhere else in Las Vegas. We intend to give our patrons the type of service that was so common in years past, but has been slowly disappearing with the growth of the mega-resorts. "We researched the Vegas landscape and found Tim and Tom to be very charismatic characters and their journey to be the most personal and dramatic story. They will be walking the casino floor every night like in old Vegas. That doesn't happen in today's large, corporate casinos," said Conrad Riggs. I watched both of these shows on the weekend. American Casino kicked ass, while Burnett's Casino was boring. I'll continue watching the former. I'm already hooked to the various plotlines, especially the hot brunnette and her mean boss. They have this weird flirty relationship, yet seem like brother and sister. Quite freaky.
