http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/16/dining/16BEER.html (free registration req'd) Has anyone read this book? I like a good beer (and hate wine), but at some higher end restaurants, I feel weird ordering a beer with certain meals. This will make it easier to justify my choices. I'll probably pick this up when I get home this weekend, but before I do, anyone have good food-beer combinations?
Okay, I'll let you in on a time-honored recipe, dating back all the way to my chemically enhanced days in Austin: 1. Take 1-16oz can of beer, cheaper the better. 2. Drink about 2" of beer from said can. 3. Insert Skittles into can, refilling to original level. Voila! Skittlbrau
Yeah, that came from a Simpsons episode. I can't remember the entire episode, but Homer went to the Kwik-E Mart and asked for "Skittlebrau: the beer with the candy inside". Apu said no such thing existed, so Homer bought some Duff and some skittles and dumped them inside.
Huh...just googled it. Makes sense, my roommate at the time wasn't smart enough to think of that on his own. It is tasty though, that I can guarantee.
just looked it up. From a 1997 episode: Homer: I'm feeling kinda low, Apu. Got any of that beer that has candy floating in it? Some Skittle.. you know. Apu: Such a product does not exist, sir. I think you must have dreamed it. Homer: Oh. Then just give me a six pack and a couple of packets of Skittles. It's become a staple college drink.
