The longer this drags out, our chances at Bosh decreases, and I have a feeling this is going to drag on for at least another week. Bosh is in the toughest spot because he knows he's not going to make as much money off the court as Wade and Lebron are.

Bosh knows we are very important because he's using us to leverage Chicago, Miami, and New York to squeeze the 6 year max in a SnT.

Morey needs to give Bosh an ultimatum, to decide within the next few days if he wants to come to Houston or not, otherwise our SnT offer is officially off the table and he's no longer looking at a guaranteed 6th year.

Why do we do this? We know that Bosh's first choice is to play with Wade, and its mainly a question of where. From many sources and journalism reports, we know Chicago and Miami are reluctant to give up pieces in a SnT deal for Bosh, and would rather sign him outright.

Our best chance is to make this ultimatum while there is still uncertainty about whether Bosh can get a 6th year in Chicago or Miami, since we are already guaranteeing that. If Bosh doesn't accept, then we know that Bosh never really gave us consideration, and he was just using us as leverage.

So.. if we give him this ultimatum, he exceeds the deadline, then decides he DOES want to sign with us.. We say no?

Why would you want to acquire a player who considers this team to be a consolation prize?

I doubt an ultimatum would work. Bosh knows if he decides at any point to go to the Rockets, the Rockets will take him.

Don't agree - it's the other way around. We need the game of musical chairs to stop with Houston being the only real option left for him. We aren't in a position of power at all. We clearly are not a priority landing spot for him as it stands.

If we want to do anything, we should start talking S&T with the backup plans.

You can't do this because Toronto would be forced to acceptable whatever S&T offers up there if we withdraw. That's exactly what Bosh wanted.

If players only played for the teams they wanted to play for then half the teams would be completely empty.

If Bosh joins Houston, I bet that he makes A LOT more money than he has in the past off the court. Bosh would be a god in China if he gets the Rox over the hump and a ring(s) on Yao Ming's finger.

I don't think we can make an ultimatum to him about anything, especially since other payers (Toronto Raptors) are involved. We're just gonna have to wait ...

Instead of an ultimatum, they should make smaller moves to shore up the roster without losing the necessary assets to get a s&t done.

Ya great idea. We tell Bosh that we decide when he has to sign with us. That'll really wanna make him sign with us...

i'm sure everyone on this board would rather have wade/lebron over bosh. so in essence, bosh is our consolation prize too.

It doesn't matter who you are, when you have a 400 million dollar team threatening to take the offer off the table, you'll be forced to rethink your options.

Let me see if I understood

The possibility of landing Bosh is close to 0, and you want to make a ultimatum??? For him to decline playing with Houston a second after the ultimatum??? And what do we lose waiting for his decision???? Do you know if we are waiting for him, and not doing other things??? Do you know what are the 2nd options???

Of course the longer the wait, the worst it gets for Houston, but the solution isn´t ultimatum.

I don´t care if he is using Houston to get the 6th year, as a a matter of fact, this is just a conspiracy theory by the pessimistic fans, this is a business, and if Bosh is using Houston for a S&T, it is ok, because we are the only team, between Chicago, Miami, that can offer him the 6th year without destroying the team, making sure that Toronto accepts it

I think the Rockets should just throw out the official offer to Bosh regardless. If anything, this jump starts the process of decisions being made sooner rather than later.

If he rethinks his options, it would be from Mia, Chi, Hou to Mia, Chi.

What I'm getting at is, players only sign with their 2nd and 3rd options, etc., when they no longer have a chance to sign with their 1st options. At that point, they take the best they can get (the highest on their preference for teams they want to play for). If we give Bosh an ultimatum, the only way he'll choose us over his more desired destinations is if he completely ignores his heart and listens to his wallet. Players like that frankly are cancerous.

Eventually, in my opinion, Morey will want to act on a smaller deal(s) that might include a possible piece(s) of a Bosh sign and trade, or go in the direction he's considering if Bosh doesn't pan out, said direction known only to Dork Elvis. A "rumor" or two about a possible Rockets free agent signing will get the attention of Bosh's agent and Bosh far more effectively than an "ultimatum" that could end up making the Rockets look foolish.

Um, i might be a bit confused here . . . but doesn't drawing this thing out prove to be good news for us? Our best chance is as a last resort once all the other options fail. We are never going to work a sign and trade as someone's first option (especially someone who wants a big market, wants to be the center of attention, and wants to play with primadonnas).
