You know it came to me very clearly today as I watched The Patriots win the Super Bowl that They were the Team of Destiny, A team which refused to lose . The Name Patriots suggests a person who honors their country . As The Patriots started out 0-2 and there QB Drew Bledsoe knocked out, things looked bleak, much like on September 11th the Spirit of America was down for the Count, But rather than concede Defeat, The Patriots decided to win, Week after Week Teams watched as the Patriots starting winning games behind the leadership of a very inexperienced leader Tom Brady . So it was with America who was knocked out and rose back up even Stronger then before behind the leadership of an inexperienced Leader named George W Bush . So even though my Team lost to the Patriots and I was bitter, I realize now that Patriots were a symbol of America and everything I stand for , how could I possibly root against them.

So Congratulations To the New England Patriots and their #1 fan Dean B Curtis, You deserved every bit of it.

yes congrats for a bad call against the raiders getting you to the next week and for a non intentional grounding getting you your winning drive. and congrats for making me wanna puke tonight. and congrats for making weak teams win two years in a row. and congrats on the probably 8-8 season you'll have next year.

notice the complete lack of bitterness in this post.

I think Bills fans would trade 3 Super Bowl appearances for 1 Super Bowl title. Winning 4 straight AFC titles is nothing compared to 4 straight Super Bowl losses.

    Nice post,Moe.

If anything ,I think the conspiracy was in the way the refs were trying to give the game back to the Rams.

I couldn't believe the # of late calls in the last quarter.

While I must say I dont really think the Patriots should have been there, sometimes things just work out because of fate. They played very well and in this game I cant take anything away from them.

in the last two weeks they beat the best team in the AFC and the best team in the NFC. Thus, they are the best team in the NFL.

    Congrats to the Pats!

Congrats Pats. As for the name and all, I just find it ironic.

Apparently, Boomer Esiason said on the radio broadcast after the win that it was obviously inspired by the divine because of the name and all.

As John McLain of the Chronicle put it this morning on the radio, "That is the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard." :) As someone here wrote once before, "I guess that's why the Diamondbacks won the world series." ;)

Anyway, it was a good game and I'm not really even a football fan.

    Great post Moe.

As for the others in this thread (and others) bashing the Patriots because of the supposed bad call (the call was correct according to the rules), get over it. The Patriots won. End of story.

"get over it"-easy to say when it's not your team getting screwed. If you want to see the rule that way fine but I dont think it was so cut and dry. Obviously I am not the only person who feels this way.
I can see why the NFL is sticking to that loose interpretation as a cop out.
But what is true is that most of the time that play happens it is ruled "inconclusive" and the ruling on the field stands. I am not saying the Patriots
didnt deserve this win they played well. I just question wether or not they should have been there in the first place. I guess I can always look forward to next year.

    GO RAIDERS!!
