Actually has not as much as you think to do with Harden himself.

Ariza was fantastic last year and masked much of Harden's perimeter defensive weaknesses. Ariza has regressed this year and has not had a great defensive start to the season. This is more like Parsons in 13-14, when Harden was seen as weaker defensively too.

The interior defense is the key culprit. You no longer have a healthy Howard or Dmo to protect the rim and that's where we are getting killed.

Team defense is worse significantly. Rotations, effort, scrambles, all of it is worse.

Harden is mailing it in alot on defense, although last couple of games has gotten slightly better.

Go watch the Rockets vs. Mavs the last 3 minutes.

Harden was not communicating whatsoever. Dirk screened Harden and Ariza switched but Harden didn't follow Dirk. Wide open dunk for Dirk.

Again, next possession for Mavs. They ran the EXACT same play. Ariza thought Harden wouldn't switch because of the previous play. Ariza followed Dirk and so did Harden. Leaving Matthews for an open 3. Luckily, Matthews missed.

I don't know what it is with Harden not communicating on defense but man. I feel bad for Ariza trying to cover 2 guys because of Harden not talking.

Everybody probably say "So what? He win the game for us." Well, the team is not going to win a lot of games with him being like this. Not to mention him being off in some games.

Ariza did not regress. Harden is being lazy.

What evidence is there that Ariza regressed in defense?

    Repped.
Sadly all will be forgotten and nothing will ever improve since he did have that gamewinner in the end...

Someone who doesn't lead by example on defense is telling someone else to get back on D, that'll work for sure.

Harden is the main culprit in terms of not trying on defense, he has to remotely try and we will be alright.

When I play with my friends, I feed off of their energy and more specifically on how the best player is playing the game. Similarly, when your best player doesn't play defense, the team feeds off it.

His number of three point shots is at an all time high, while his three point percentage is at an all time low. Harden says that's because he's playing nearly forty minutes a game, so the org needs to reduce his minutes played, pronto, so he no longer has that excuse in his pocket.

Harden is playing like crap, and he's pulling down his team, because of it.

    SMH @ the OP's excuse-making for Harden.

Harden sucks this season because he's a little b**** on that end of the floor.

It's seriously difficult to even respect that fool as a man. What a pu$$y!!

I don't understand. In his post-game interviews, he emphasizes the key to winning games is to play defense. The rest of the team is expending effort to do that, but you don't talk? You need to stop saying 'WE' and own up to your mistakes.

Another thing is we saw how prior to last season, he conditioned and trained to lead us throughout the season. He got worn out towards the end at times, but with what he's been doing this past offseason, I really hope he doesn't taper off physically as the season progresses. Particularly injury-wise.

I'm praying that he can carry us again throughout the season.

I think the biggest difference is Harden is out of shape LOL. He obviously spent the summer drinking and partying it up thanks to his megadeal and when the season started he was bricking his shots and didn't have enough energy to get back on D.

Now the players are playing their way into shape and we're starting to win games because their bodies are starting to do what their minds want to do.

Dude keeps mailing it in, filling up his stat sheet, and disappearing into the night. Something is wrong with him.
