Kandi. I'm living in LA and I know the Clipper fans(there r quite a few now with Odom) don't give a crap about him. They believe the Clips wasted the first pick on him and think Skinner is good enough to replace him. They were saying how they should of got Carter, but now they've changed to now they got Odom. I know its kinda far but how about stealing Kandi in the offseason when Dream retires? He could replace Dream by providing solid d and rebounding with a little better offensive arsenal then Cato. Don't worry about this if u guys want Martin too. Essentially Dream/Kandi(later) and Martin start with Cato backing up each. Also, Rashard Lewis is a free agent this summer for anyone of u who like to know. Watch tonight's game to find out...if we should get him. FINALLY A GAME OF THE ROCKETS, I HAVE NO CABLE.
I think we should draft Chris Mihm to start with Olajuwon in the backcourt. When Olajuwon retires we just bump Mihm to center. Mihm is a great all around player, and if we choose him we will have one of the most feared backcourts in the NBA next season. Don't get me wrong, I like Kenyon Martin alot, but we are more in need of a future center than a current power forward. Cato plays too inconsistent to start yet, but if he starts playing consistently at his potential we can keep Mihm at power forward. We need all the height we can get. What do you guys think?
I would like to get the Candy Man too. He has shown progress from last season, and is developing some nice moves. And I don't think that he will cost that much, so it will probably be a good deal. BTW, were you impressed by the Rockets' performance tonite rocketsfan34?
You guys are way too funny tonight. So would you have Hakeem at the point and Mihm playing Shooting guard??? Your right, that would be the most fearsome backcourt in the history of the NBA.
no mihm is the guy that plays for texas. The 7'6 guy is the chinese guy that sucks and everyone thinks he is good. He is slow and sucks like hell.
Oh yeah, thx Francis3. I remember seeing him play once. I don't know about gettin Mihm. Cato's starting to play real well, and is starting to develop some decent post up moves. I'd rather get Candy man. He's at least got some experience, and he too is getting better and better. On ESPN.com, there was an article that said Candy Man and Cato were gonna be the two future premiere centers in the league. Imagine if we could have both of them. As for Mihm playing pf, I don't think he can play pf. He seems like a natural center.
alaskan-I'm surprised we blew out the clips like that. They made us look like champions. Why the hell do people want Mimhs? He's slow. Mimhs is not that. A backcourt heavy team needs athletic frontcourt guys. Kandi, on the other hand, can runs, and basically is another cato that rebounds. Kandi is so raw if u haven't noticed. He starting to develop though. He still makes rookies mistakes like passing behind the streaking guy but is catching on with his many blocks.
I'M ALL FOR CANDY MAN. I agree with you rocketsfan34. Candy is still a raw talent but is starting to show promise, just like Cato is. They are both athletic, can block shots, young, can rebound, and are starting to develop post up games(although I think that Candy is a little ahead on that department). The only thing that I'm a bit worried about is: can Candy man play pf? You know Cato needs to get a lot of minutes to develop, and Candy man also needs a lot of minutes. I would like for Candy man to play pf with Cato. Then it might all work out.
I actually think Kandi would be the C and Cato the PF cuz Kandi is 7'0 and Cato is 6'11". Plus Cato has experience at PF while Kandi has not. I'm not sure if he has when they do the double tower thing with Kloss becuase i don't watch the clips much.
Getting Olowakandi wouldn't be the worst thing we could do. He should come cheap and he's bigger than Cato. That would mean I'd finally get my way and Cato would play PF. Kandi's Negatives: 1.) Poor Shooter: 44.5% on FGs for career 2.) Bad FT Shooter: 53.5% for career 3.) Black Hole: 0.5 assists 4.) Gets into Foul Trouble: 4.1 fouls this season 5.) Not a Strong Rebounder: 7'0" tall, but only 7.9 rebs in 29.3 min a game... Kandi's Positives: 1.) He should be cheap 2.) He's shown signs of improving 3.) He'd probably like to get a fresh start away from the Clippers 4.) He's young ....any more?? ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
Alaskan He's going to be a free agent in 2 years, exactly when Dream retires. Notice the post title, the big man to persue in the offseason when he retires is Kandi. Dream cannot teach Kandi a few moves unless he plays an extra year or gets traded to us.
Dreamer, When you say cheap, do you mean cheap through free agency or cheap in a trade? For that matter, are the Clips even looking to trade Kandi? Here’s my dream trade for the day: Rockets get: Kandi and any change required for cap considerations Clippers get any or all of the following that they want: Detroit pick, Orlando pick, Bryce Drew, either Kenny Thomas or Carlos Rogers, Walt Williams, Sam Mack, Matt Bullard, and Devan Gray Basically, all of our scrubs for a former overall number one pick! It sounds unrealistic to me, but would that work? Would the Clips require our lottery pick? Kandi might be worth it, considering he has enough talent to warrant his position in the draft two years ago. I would rather trade our pick to get a full sized, talented center enabling us to have a big frontcourt in the future (Kandi with Cato at PF) than draft an undersized PF in Martin and have a small frontcourt (Martin with Cato at C). Imagine this nucleus if my dream trade went through: Francis/ Mobley Anderson/ Mobley lottery pick/ Anderson Cato/ Rogers Kandi/ Hamilton Analysts often say a coach should go with his best eight guys in the playoffs - I like those eight guys! Defense, rebounding, scoring, size, quickness, ball-handling, fast breaks, shot blocking, post-ups (provided Kandi, Cato, and Hamilton fulfill some of their potential under the Rockets coaching staff, who are very good with big men) – I don’t see any real weaknesses. I’m not saying it would be a dynasty or anything, but the team looks like a contender on paper to me.
another postitive for you Dreamer. 5.)He can block shots. 6.)His rebounding will probably improve. Cato didn't rebound too well when he came to HOuston, but our coaching staff is so great. Whatever they did, I think Cato is grabbing more boards now. 7.)He's athletic and can run the floor. 8.)WHEN IS CANDY A FREE AGENT? If we could get him at the end of this season, then that would be great because both Candy and Hakeem are of the same origen. I hear that Hakeem is already friends with Candy, and if they are on the same team, they can develop a very good rapport. Both Cato and Candy are raw talents, and the coaching staff/HAKEEM should be able to help them develop faster. Hakeem can teach Candy a dream shake or two.
Oh well. Maybe Dream can come to the practice facility and help Candy out. haha. But having two young, full of potential centers would be great. They could help each other out. Do I see a Francis and Mobley relationship developing?
Thats not the first trade scenario that comes to mind when I think of getting someone cheap. That would be a horrible trade in my oppinion. We would be giving away most of our trade fodder in the draft picks. A package deal of Drew, Bullard Rogers, Williams, Mack and a couple of picks would get us a Superstar in this league not just Kandi. A future FA superstar could easily be nabbed with actualy far less. If the Rocks had to give that much for Olawakandi then damn imagine what Pippen is worth.... umm never mind. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
I guess my reasoning behind the “dream trade” scenario I threw out there was that the Rockets are about two players away from rounding out a real strong nucleus for the future. These two players would be at the small forward position and the power forward or center position (preferably center, because of Cato’s size). I figured we could draft a good starting small forward with our lottery pick, leaving the players and picks that I mentioned to get Kandi. Good centers are a rare commodity, and from what I have heard of Kandi (I haven’t seen much of him), he has the potential to be among the best in the league. That said, my proposed package may be a little much. Still, I would love to see the Rockets trade any combination of those players for Kandi if he was available. I just think he would be a real nice piece to the puzzle!
