I think they need to be given a pop quiz on the history of Rockets' basketball...nothing too difficult, but it should weed out a lot of bandwagon fans or non-fans.
I agree, a real fan would not consider giving up 103 hours.. I have followed the rockets since I was 8 years old, I am now 28, when i didn't have cable and lived outside the houston area i would listen to the games on the radio to the great mr. foley and peterson, but i would never say i have wasted 20 years of my life rooting for my favorite basketball team, but i have enjoyed rooting for them, and wouldn't have it any other way.
In the offseason I bet a poster $300 in the tip jar and a ban for 6 months if the rockets finish higher than a 3 seed. First he was talking $100, I raised him like the yankees and said $300. Well it looks like I can't remember the posters name and its clear the rockets won't be a 3 seed. I wonder where he/she is at?
If Yao scores 20 points in another game I will donate $20 to the tip jar. If the Rockets trade for a center I will drop in $10.
I have respect for what the rowdies do, it does take commitment to go out there every home game, jump up and down like crazy for 2 hours. What does that have anything to do with making side bets? lol. I'll make a couple: If at any point between now and the trade deadline, the Rockets trade for any player under the age of 32 who has played in at least 1 All-Star game, I will donate $30 to the tip jar. If the Rockets make the postseason this year, I will purchase playoff tickets (at least one lol), dress up like a Rowdy (I'll find a Rowdy and ask them for advice on what to wear. Guessing its face painted, jersey plus some type of headwear), and be jumping up and down screaming throughout the entire game, sitting next to the "unpassionate" fans.
LOL @ preaching to the choir! Tellin folks on CF how to be real fans. Has it ever appeared to you that some of us "other" fans have ways to show support rather than making a damn fool of themselves? Painting your face and BLOWING on Shane Battier and the rockets is your thing, I get it. Ain't no one hatin on ya
