Guys, i need help. Basketball season is almost here for me and I need a great pair of basketball shoes before our league games start. I tried Nikes, but they have an extremely high arch in them and i have flat feet so they hurt extremely. I have a pair of the Reebok DMX cross-trainers which are flat and VERY comfortable, but they are so paded that i tend to twist an ankle when I make any cuts or sudden moves. I thought maybe Adidas was the way to go because they are extremely comfortable but support the ankle and look nice, all while costing alot less than most brands. Can anyone recommend the best shoe? I also heard that Stevies shoe is not a very good shoe so i dont think ill be getting them anytime soon. Ay hel is GREATLY appreciated.
try this site for basketball shoes reviews. the guy does a great job http://www.kicksology.com/index.html
The Kicksology page is a pretty good source..... I agree that some Nike shoes can hurt the arch area....(I have somewhat flat feet & on the wide side) I've replaced a few of my Nike insoles with aftermarket insoles( Dr Scholls or similar for under 2.00$) and the arch discomfort is completely solved. Some Nikes don't require alteration, some do, in my experience.
Right now my favorites are the Flightposites and Hyperflights, which don't really seem to have that high of arch. Although you might want to postpone your shopping because every brand is prompting to release their top lines of footwear in the coming monthes. If you need shoes right now, and you still want to go with something other than Nike, I'd suggest the following. Kevin Garnett's And 1 Mad Game Jordan Retro 1's (even though they are Nike's, they still have the same old school design, which includes a flat sole) Jordan Retro 3's (same as above) Barkley's Retro Air Force Max B Walt Williams' Adidas superstar 2g
I got some red and white adidas superstar 2g's and they are awesome. I love them. And they are pretty inexpensive compared to some of these other shoes...
Try the OLD Reebok Question, the original. They are still out there in stores. Good shoe, not too much cushioning, low arch.
Cool, thanks guys. I actually thought about the And1 brand because they arent as expensive. I didnt realize the Jordan Retro's had low arches. I even thought about looking on ebay. I looked on the kicksology.net website and they suggesed the KobeTWO from Adidas but i dont like the look and im not sure I want to spend that much money.
Yeah, check out kicksology -- I love that site, and it's got great reviews for both athletes or shoe nuts (like myself). Epinions also has good shoe info. Personally, I'd recommend the following: The Kobe 1 - I'm not a big Kobe fan, but he's got kickass shoes, and the first edition will be cheaper now that the KOBETWO is out. I think the Kobe is a good shoe for an all around game, from posting up to cutting. The Reebok Answer IV DMX - I love AI, and his shoes are on par with Kobe's. They're a year out, and so they're cheaper as well. However, I don't think they're the best for all-around game -- wear them as a guard, but not as a SF or PF/C. They're great for running full court. The retro Jordan VII -- as I understand it, these will be the next edition of retro jordans. I don't know when they come out, but rest assured I'll be picking some up. They don't look the best, but I've NEVER had a more comfortable, better performing shoe than this one. It rocked in every way. The Jordan Jumpman Vindicate -- If you can find these, get them . . . it's as simple as that. Check out epinions and you'll see my review (sigemund). If you find them in 14, let me know so I can buy some. These are the 2nd best shoes I've had, and they rock in virtually every way. They are durable, comfortable, and perform flawlessly. They are the best of the Jumpman series.
Have the And 1 Mad Game's and they are really sweet, tight fitting and great cushioning system (kicksology has a good review)
Does anybody know the particular name of the Air Jordans that are Carolina blue and have the writing on the bottom of the sole. There are 13 accomplishments (I think) commemorating all of Jordan's feats. They are approximately from the mid 90's I believe. I do know that they aren't Jumpmans, or Retro's. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have a pair of Nike Air Uptempos and I have to say they are one of the best out there right now. They have everything, good design, arch is just right, nice ankle support, light weight, good traction and cushion, etc. And if price is something you're looking at I only paid $89.99 for mine but now they are on sale for $69.99 at Foot Locker.
E-Mo, Air Jordan 10, and they will be released again. I don't have a clear date off the top of my head but this site will help you.
Thank you DEANBCURTIS, i looked on ebay for them and you were correct. I always found them very comfortable for flat feet. There are so many different Jordans with the retros and all the originals, its so confusing
Your right EMO. Almost all nike bball shoes have an extremely high arch, and are typically more narrow along the ball of the foot. Some suggestions. Classic styles. AS already suggested. But if you like newer styles. Try just about any AND 1 b ball shoe. They use a softer more rubber based sole. Regardless of what people think the arch isnt built into the innersole....its built into the midsole of the shoe. Since AND 1 uses the softer substances in their midsole construction, the arch (what little they put into the midsole) tends to be much more giving than their Nike, Reebok, and Adidas counterparts.
