I don't know about you guys, but I find it easier to sleep with music playing in the background. I thought we could put our heads together and make a playlist of artists or songs that are.. good.. for.. sleeping. I say that and it sounds weird but whatever. Coldplay Incubus (slower stuff) Matthew Good Band (same as above) A Perfect Circle (look up) The Cure The Smiths Elliot Smith The Decemberists
Cool mist humidifier Ceiling fan Benadryl (allergies -same stuff in most "sleep aids") Ibuprofen (knees ) That's my playlist. Back in the day (when I was single) I'd pop in the Public Enemy and/or Metallica. Go figure.
I've been goin' with the Andre3000 half of the new Outkast ablum lately, "The Love Below", good stuff.
I have to use a fan as well to fall asleep. Funny thing that you would mention the Cure, McFist, as I was listening to some of their stuff last night. I was listening mainly to "Disintegration" and "Wish". "Doing the Unstuck" and "Trust" which sandwich "Friday I'm in Love" are great, underrated Cure songs. Speaking of songs, I cannot get enough of "Dogs" by Pink Floyd. I have been listening to that song every day it seems. Truly magnificent piece of work.
check out my post time - 3rd night in a row getting to see the sun come up. and i have a marketing final today.... i usually fall asleep with the TV on anyways, no music for me.
I've seen a couple posts for this now, and I don't get this. My wife needs a celing fan running to sleep as well. Maybe in Houston you need it to cool down or something, but we live in Michigan, it was frickin 20 degree this weekend and she still had the damn thing going What makes it really wierd is she turn the furnace, then turns the fan on, starts to get cold and gets under like three blankets. Someone please explian this to me. Is it the sound, the breeze, what???
I cant sleep without a fan either, no matter the weather. I think part of it is the sound. I dont like the silence, where I can hear everything in the house. Plus I like to have some air circulation in the room too cause I get hot.
It is known as "white noise". My freind lives next door to a "lively" church and has a white noise machine to drown out the singing to be able to sleep. I used to be able to sleep with music playing, but not anymore. I remember listening to Bob Marley, The Cure and PIL when going to sleep. I usually have a hard time falling to sleep, but now I just try to meditate for a while and that does the trick. The trick is trying not to think about anything, or labeling your thoughts. I found that stretching also can help. A technique that A-Train describes in this thread can also do the trick: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69703&perpage=30&pagenumber=2
I usually sleep with just about anything from classical to heavy metal to rap playing softly in the background.... but sometimes I just have to have silence. Enya and Sarah MacLachlan are usually good. Speaking of sleeping.... it's almost 1pm - it's past my bedtime... I have to get up and pull my second consecutive all nighter later tonight... damn finals week.
This might sound weird, but... The soundtrack to Risky Business. All those Tangerine Dream tunes are great. Very minimalist and mellow in nature. Perfect sleeping music. Also, check out the soundtrack to a movie called Captive released back in 87. The Edge (from U2) did the whole thing. Very ambient and minimal. It will put you in a trance. Perfect for sleeping or a late night drive.
I also sleep with the fan on... As far as "sleepy" music goes, Enya or classical music always does the trick.
