I was also wondering who he thinks is the best PG ever. Most people would say Magic Johnson. So Brooks believes Westbrook is better than all other PGs in history except Magic? That's a huge claim. I mean, there are a LOT of great PGs in NBA history. Most people would think Westbrook isn't the second best PG in his own generation alone.

There's absolutely no metric that can support Westbrook being anywhere near the 5th best (let alone 2nd best) point guard in the history of the NBA. Brooks is using the same set of eyes to rate Westbrook that also helped him oversee years of mediocre coaching.

Is there a even any metric that could support him being the 5th best active point guard?

Would he even be top 10?

We're obviously talking about in his prime. And there's no doubt, that a prime Westbrook... still wouldn't be top 10 in the history of the NBA.

As long as people value raw numbers over efficiency, seen in extreme the way many perceive Westbrook, there will always be a way to extract better value in the league through the use of analytics.

Westbrook is an incredible athlete... Probably the most unbelievable athlete to ever play point guard. In his prime, you couldn't stay with him. He has tons of energy and he leaves it all out on the floor.

Getting that comes at a significant price: Poor defender. Poor shooter. Low basketball IQ leading to bad turnovers. His weaknesses are counter to all the things that the modern NBA prioritizes now.

    46th is way too high.

Unfortunately he missed the turn when there was a sign that says 'Smart decisions'.

It is up to everyone else to decide but flawed as he was, he was indeed a spectacular player in his prime.

Westbrook in his prime was a hell of a floor raiser. Unfortunately the ceiling wasn't that much higher than the floor, and then if you tried to get pieces around him to raise the ceiling then the floor falls out because he is a volume ballhandler that can't do as much if he's not the focal point.

I think #46 is too high, but some people definitely underrate him.
