Growing up watching the Rockets I always loved it when an announcer said something along the lines of "The Dream is giving [insert defender/team] nightmares tonight!".

Sleep Floyd is such an awesome nick name.

Thankfully no serious honor for Kenny 'The Jet' Smith ... *Kenny is the only professional athlete to get a nickname after he retired.

I think he got it in his Sacramento days actually when he was a regular in the dunk contest. Dan Majerle was also a dunker before he turned into a 3 point shooter.

Correction... https://houstonrockets.fandom.com/w...mith graduated in 1983.,next day in the paper.
Smith graduated in 1983. While still in high school, he earned the nickname "Jet" after a local sportswriter saw the cat-quick Smith in action in an in-season game against rival Christ the King High School and reported on it the next day in the paper. The newsman watched in awe as Smith repeatedly shredded the defense's tough press, only to "jet" down the court for several easy lay-ups, earning the moniker in the process.

I know it was more Okoye...
but there was toying around with it regarding Hakeem... 'for Houston fans he's The Dream - for opposing teams he's the Nigerian Nightmare...'
Idr if Akeem was Dream in college... ?
I remember "Ralph and Akeem, oh what a dream!"

Sorry, you don't win any awards for giving yourself a nickname, even if your many fans eat it up. I don't make the rules.
