a move for a bat before the trade deadline.

We will be in a position to win most games with a rotation of Roy O, Clemens, Andy, Backe and Taylor but without that hammer in the 9th inning we must find a way to score more runs.

BRAD LIDGE IS JUST ANOTHER GUY RIGHT NOW PERIOD. His ERA is five and a half going into tonights game.

I say lets go get crawford and we will have a hell of an outfield with Crawford/Wilson and either Burke or Willy T out there every game.

The infield will be Berkman, Biggio, Everett, Ausmus and either lamb or ensberg whoever is hotter.

I will take that lineup and don't forget Burke can spell Everett or Biggio and we lose nothing in the outfield.

    Closer by committee Lidge/Quall's/Wheeler

    Thoughts?

we definitely need another bat without a doubt, too many runners are being stranded on base and we aren't taking advantage of our obp guys because berkman is the only one bringing them home

i think lamb should play 1st and leave berkman in right, with wilson or the new guy in left, and burke or taveras in cf

I'd put Lamb at third. Berkman at first, and Lane in right. I know Lane has been pretty much hopeless, but he really hasn't had an extended period of playing time in order to work his way out of his funk. He's not gonna get hot unless he gets regular AB's.

It's funny, Ensberg has been stinking the last two+ months and they leave him in there day in and day out. Lane goes through a one+ month dry spell and he gets relegated to spot duty.

at this point i'm just as willing to play lane as ensberg but you don't understand why ensberg is/was given more of a chance? he was an all-star and 4th in mvp voting last season, and followed that up with a monster april. he hasn't done anything for two months but his track record is far and away superior to lanes so i understand the idea of trying to let him work it out. like i said i don't know for how much longer.

i would give up anything outside of berkman and oswalt to get crawford...

Ensberg hasn't shown heck of alot, but what he has shown is tenfold compared to what Lane has brought to the table.

Bring on Carl Crawford. Tampa is looking for 2 top notch pitching prospects in return, but everything that I have read suggests that no GM is going to cave in to those demands. I'd start with one of either Buchholz or Hirsh, plus Nieve and Lane.

I think Nieve is a top notch pitching prospect, and a combination of Hirsh, Nieve, and another player can get it done.

The Astros should be making a big charge in the second half as players get healthy,Roger settles in,and moves are made. This team knows how to achieve that chemistry and momentum after the break. As much as i would love to see a bat that helps provide protection and balance in our lineup, the need for starting pitching eclipses it.Add another guy in the field, but put the real money into the mound.
Backe's status is obviously crucial to what the Astros do this year.We need this guy at 100 %.Also we have some young pitchers who may have an easier time of it at first, but after a few times though the league things often change.Andy's body seems to be giving out on him and Roger only has so much time left.We need someone like Dontrelle Willis that can be counted on to come in and give us quality starts in the regular and postseason. The old adage about never having enough pitching applies here I think.

I say remove Lidge from the team and we dominate for the next 10 years.

I'd give up a lot for Crawford. He's just about the perfect guy to hit #2 or 3 for us ... good average with plenty of pop, and of course the speed.

Definitely would be a spark in the lineup, something we miss right now.

I would play Lamb and Burke every day. Bench Lane and Willy T. They just are not producing this year.

Is there any way we have a chance at Andruw Jones? If so who do we have to offer?

agreed. lane doesn't need to be anywhere near the field... how old is he now? he's barely hitting .200, that's absolutely pathetic. i think at this point taveras is better utilized off the bench.

ensberg's current lathergic performance is quite worrisome.... you know he has it in him, but clearly something is afoot - perhaps injury? but i'd still rather see him out there than anyone else we could potentially throw @ 3rd.
