Now before you read this, keep in mind, one thing.

The Astros colors are Brick and Sand.

In 2000, the Astros became the first team in baseball to introduce "Brick Red" into the MLB's array of colors. For 6 years, Brick Red is what has made there current on the field look, unique in baseball.

Well, unique it is no more.....well, after 2007 that is.

    Red is the new purple.

The Diamondbacks are expected to unveil new colors and uniforms at the end of this season, replacing the organization's signature purple with a brick red and tan color scheme  that will give the team a makeover heading into its 10th season in existence.

Specifics of the club's new look, first reported by ESPN.com earlier this week after a team shop employee apparently leaked word of the changes to the Web site, could not be confirmed by the organization because of baseball's regulations.

“Major League Baseball rules prohibit us from providing any details regarding proposed uniform or branding changes,” Diamondbacks Executive Vice President Derrick Hall said. “But I can confirm that there will be some changes for next season and that we are extremely excited about those changes.”

Rules prevent an unveiling from taking place before the end of the World Series.

The club's current colors date to 1995, when Arizona was granted an expansion team and announced that its colors would be turquoise, copper, black and purple.

Turquoise and copper are Arizona colors, while purple was a favorite of Jerry Colangelo, the Suns president who was then the Diamondbacks' managing general partner.

The club is expected to tie in the new red color to the state, according to a league source. The red will be a “Sedona red,” conjuring images of the area's picturesque red rocks

Copy cats. I guess they are trying to make the team colors look like the hills around Sedona. Lame attempt to sell jerseys. Put a decent team on the field and actually sell some tickets losers.

Maybe they'll copy the rainbow jerseys too, saying it looks like a desert sunset.

I've never liked the Diamondbacks. I still can't believe they won the World Series a few years back.

Pleas no! What could they possibly change them too that would look better than they are now? I 'em too. I've think they hit on a pretty classic look. And the alternate brick red jerseys are are really nice; they're my favorite.

tradition went out the window when they changed the name from the Colt45s to the Astros. Then when we made the Houston H on top of the Texas Star our look we went to the shooting star.

I do like the Red uni's but the pinstrips need to go. If they change again please do it right and stay with something timeless not trendy

Remember the black alternate Astros jerseys? Those were awesome.

Whatever happened to those? I heard it was because of the heat but I'm not too sure.

If you were talking about the Rockets (even with their current look) I'd agree. But what about the Astros look is "trendy." Almost every team in baseball seems to have pinstripes on one of their jersey's (that's not a new thing). In fact baseball is the ONLY sport where pinstripes is ok. The colors are excellent and timeless unlike the rainbow, bright orange outfits of yesterday. And the logo, a simple, open start is classic. I think their current look is very capable of standing up against time. Same with the texans and their logo. The Rocket's are close, but not quite there yet.

The colors suck. There is nothing athletic about them. They are dull.
The logo is a bore also. "Astro" is supposed to be flashy, futuristic. Not 1920 pinstripes with brick red. HORRIBLE.

At least the rainbows had some flash, spark and speed to them. They rokked.

    Wow.

Well they are bold, but that's about where the compliments stop.

The current look is classic and timeless...once you start trying to do something flashy and futuristic you get something trendy or worse you get the Rockets' PJs.

No, you get this [IMG], which is now actually classic instead of pretend classic.

The current uni isn't timeless. It is intentionally vintage. There is a big difference.

Even the shoulder rainbows was way cooler than the brick red (ugh).

But a return to the shooting star uni would be the best, with an adapdation of the dome logo. It is truly classic and badass.
