Cuttino Mobley is playing some of the best basketball of his career. He is averaging 16.6 points a game, 3 assits, and 4 + rebounds. He is shooting about 45% FG and 44% 3 pointers. It's easy for a lot of people to single him out because he is a Shooting guard and shoots the ball. When everyone on this board would prefer Yao or Steve shoot the ball. But if you compare Steve and Mobley, the cat is have a statistical better year. Mobley and steve play about the same amount of minutes 40 to 38 minutes. Steve averages 1 more point than Mobley, 2 more assists, and 1 more rebound. But Steve is averaging 20'somthing % 3 point shooting. And Steve is in the 30%'s in FG's. I'd like Yao to take a good majority of the shots. But after Yao, the next guys taking shots should either be Mobley or Taylor. Francis should use his remarkable talents to make something happen when all other avenues have been exhausted. And that is what it seemed Francis did against Detroit. 11 rebound for Francis should be the norm, not the high point of the season.
That was so last month. The flavors for this month are "Stevie is a net negative because he doesn't how to pass and plays crappy defense" and "Yao only fans suck"
I think that the Yao, Steve, and Cat lineup will work if we can get consistent play from the forward positions. Trade Cat for Charlie Ward? No way!
YOF do suck. They are like locusts and come here in swarm. Only a small number of those are constructive Rocket fans, while the majority only care about Yao's stats and will be gone if Yao plays for another team.
Yes, let's keep bashing YOF. That make me feel really good. ------------------------------------------ YOF bashing club.
Cat is just doing what he should do, and he hasn't been consistent with it. It would take a good 20 games of that kinda play to convince anyone. No one said Cat is a bad player, the argument is that he's not a good fit in the backcourt with Steve Francis, and that, IMO, hasn't changed.
Sane has spoken. And lo it was the truth. I'm liking Cat's game better nowadays but JVG mentions the team's lack of size (re: rebounding, defense), so, whether we like Cat might not be the issue. He could be bait for a 3.
Cat has had far more good games than bad ones, and that is a hell of a lot more consistant than ANY player on the Rox thus far this year. If Cat played at the top of his game 20 games in a row, he would be a superstar in this league. Come on now! His FG% is high. An inconsistent player shoots 50% everyonce in a while and 25% alot which doesnt add up to an overall percentage in the mid 40s. It sucks that Cat has had a few bad games and that is all many of you can remember.
the bbs would implode and the sky would fall if the Mobley hatin stopped.... live with it, it's part of life!!!!!
I think a good thing about Mobley is that he's taking shot with in the Rox offense. Sure he still puts up a lot, but he's forcing a lot less. I think that's great. Infact, how many times have we seen the iso with Mobes? Mobes a good shooting guard, which means you let him take a couple of questionable shots every now and then to see if he's hot. If he's not, then let him play with in the system (I've seen it this years) and if he is let him keep shooting (isn't he the only player besides francis to have 30 pt game for us this season?). He's turning into a nice X factor.
11 rebounds is extrodinary for a pg or any 6'3 to 6'11" player. It should never be the norm. I don't care what your vert is. And, Cuttino has been awesome, no doubt about it.
I think he meant 11 assists (Fancy got 6 boards against Detroit, not 11) which, while still aiming a bit too high, is not as rediculous as 11 rebounds.
Well, yeah, but Moochie actually DOES suck. I don't think I've read a post from anyone here in the last two seasons who thinks Moochie's a good choice for a backup PG. Especially at his salary. The most pro-Moochie post I remember is one from last year, when a woman poster said that she liked him because "he's cute."
So, if Mobley plays well generally, it's illegitimate to have threads about his general idiocy at times? Man, if we only had positive threads about good players, and critical threads about bad players, we'd lose about half the legit analysis out there. How about just asking for fewer critical threads about Mobley ?
