First of all, take a deep breath and calm down.

All these "trade ________" threads are a HUGE misconception.

For example: Scola is being misused right now by our team because he is placed in a position that he is not best fit for. In our team, Scola is used as a primary post option and is expected to protect the paint AND rebound. This does not play to Scola's strengths. As a complementary post player, Scola is the perfect fit. He makes all the hustle plays, lives off hitting open jumpers and can punish defenses for doubling the other post player. His defensive lapses are less exposed when he is guarding the other team's secondary post option. Can you imagine if Scola was playing next to Dwight? Scola is a winner that is durable and a great teammate. He is not our problem. Trading away a player just because you think that he is not fit for a role he wasn't supposed to play or is being paid to play is a terrible rookieGM mistake.

This is the same for Lowry, Martin, and it extends down to the rest of our players. Lowry and Martin are not, and should not be primary ball handlers at the end of games and crucial possessions. Lowry is at his best when he can push the tempo and be a pest on defense. Martin is the best in the game at taking advantage of defensive lapses and hitting open shots.

Our team's ONLY needs right now are a big C that can rebound + deter shots, and a closer that can create plays for themselves when the game is on the line. Unfortunately, these are the two hardest types of players to acquire.
We would've had both these types in a healthy Yao and Mac, but alas the past is the past.

To those that want to get rid of Morey: Daryl has done a great job thus far trying to put ours team in the best position to move forward. His true value will be determined by whether he can continue to improve our roster in the upcoming year or two.

This does not mean that anyone is untouchable on our roster. If the right deal comes along, everyone is up-for-grabs. The following is my assessment of players' values to our team based on skill set, fit, and contract situation etc.

    PLAYER VALUES
*1 star "match salary filler type player"
Ish>Jeffries>Miller (negative value due to contract)

    *2 star "solid role player"
    Battier>Hill>Budinger>Hayes

*3 star "potential to be average~above average starters"
    Brooks>PPat>Lee>Williams

*4 star "championship caliber as 4 or 5th best starter"
    Martin(can be a 3rd option on true contending team)>Scola>Lowry

    *5 star "franchise tag"
    SEARCHING!

As you can see, we have an abundance of *2-3 star type of players. Hopefully we can acquire one-two true franchise types soon.
Till then, chillax my fellow Rox fans.

Oh ok *2-3 star players based on your assessment. I am definitely not worried about anything anymore. Thanks buddy.

Probably one of the smarter statements I have read but the problem is, we don't have that star that takes the pressure off of Scola and Martin. Trade for a young big that protects the rim, get rid of
Battier, Jefferies, Martin, Martin, and Hill. Keep Patterson, Lee,Brooks,Lowry, Hayes, and Williams. With the outgoing players try to pick up a stud via trade that will stay with the team. The Rockets are basically screwed until we can get the next big thing.

I know this has been mentioned before, but what we need is to have a scenario where we "overpay" for that one star who is top 10 in the NBA. Once we do that without putting ourselves in cap hell, Morey has shown that he can accumulate a roster full of complementary pieces rather quickly.

We need the perfect storm to steal one franchise player. Once that is done, I am confident that the rest will fall in line accordingly.

Morey hasn't been horrible, but I don't think he's done a good job either. By that I mean we don't have a good team, and we don't have pieces that other teams desire. I hope I'm wrong and Morey does pull off a trade that makes an impact before the trade deadline. But if that doesn't happen, how does this team stop being mediocre/bad?

As for rating players, the only thing I'm going to say is everyone is expendable because we need to shake things up. The vets like Battier and Scola should be traded sooner rather than later while they still have value. Battier has been great for the team over the years, but he's lost a step and only getting older. Same goes for Scola, although his game has never really been about athletic ability.

    To do list:
    1) Aggressively search for top 10 player and overpay for services
    2) Convince top 25 player to join top 10 player
    3) Assemble good supporting cast within 2 year span
    4) PLAY
