Really, the fact that Morey wasn't willing or able to go to Mombasa and hire mercs to abduct Chris Bosh and lock him in the basement of the Toyota Center proves he lacks the dedication necessary to build a winner. Firing's too good for him. You really have to execute his @ss if you want to send the right message to the league.
Morey let himself get played. Bosh never seriously considered leaving Miami. It was only a ploy to get himself a better deal. If he was serious about Houston he would've cut short his vacation and come meet Morey, McHale, Harden and Howard face to face.
In the end money talks and Miami can offer more money, regardless of who our GM was. Likewise with carmelo and the Knicks as seems likely. Sure everyone is devastated by the bosh news, but you have to explain why a different GM changes this decision? If anything it shows how rare convincing a star like Dwight to leave guaranteed money is. Rockets are in a tough spot, but if we didn't go for any of the star free agents people would be crushing Morey for that too. Where we go from here is what is important now.
This bothers me more than striking out on players. Morey needs to be careful if we fail this upcoming season.
I don't understand how any of you can be TEXANS fans and then turn and complain about the Rockets GM???? Could you imagine the state of the Rockets if we had the basketball version of the TEXANS GM?
Not only that, but I'd take it a step further for those who do not understand that. They also do not understand business or management in any sense. This is beyond basketball. I question their critical thinking capacity as well.
I guess that means you must also give him credit for making the personnel to turn a team with no all star talent and no top 10 picks into a 54 win team that is seriously young, getting better and has two of the best players at their positions in the NBA.
never seen so much hate for GM that is trying to get its 3rd star after losing 2 franchise players 4 years ago. Morey doesn't have the benefit of glamorous destination, at one point didnt have glamorous players, no high draft picks to speak of, yet he still got Rockets in position to be top in the west! Some want him gone after missing out on a few players that didn't want to be here and losing some role players that he acquired BEFORE he got his superstars established.. get a grip.
FACT 5 hours ago national media was saying the Rockets could possibly have the best starting 5 in the league it didn't work out unfortunately but what other GMS have gotten their teams even to that point of discussion recently? FACT We are making the playoffs while having enough cap-space every offseason to chase the best free agent How many GMs can say that? So his set-up backfired this year, those are still impressive feats The only mind boggingly thing is, is that everyone knows Milk Hair is a goof of a coach yet Morey seems to be enamored by him
Not to mention we didn't have to do a true rebuild. The guy is so good we had one below average year, and another where we barely missed the playoffs, and acquired the assets during that time to get our All-Stars. We didn't even have to tank, and it only took 2 years!!! Get some perspective guys.
he's still a good gm and this is far from his biggest mistake. MCHALE is by far the worst move he's ever made.
Not to mention Morey consistently finds talent under seat cushions and behind Denny's parking lots: Beverley, AB, Lowry, Daniels, Parsons, Landry...
