This could be quite a rediculous idea, but I believe the answer to all of our problems is to hire Calvin Murphy as the next coach of the houston rockets if van gundy falls through

Think about it...Dunleavy? why would we hire a man that would bring no excitement to the city or our team. Rather than having a lot of fans feel like we are taking a step backwards in the coaching department, along with no major roster moves, why not make a shocking move that would certainly generate some type of excitement?

I propose hiring calvin murphy as the next coach of the houston rockets. The man was a hall of famer, he knows the game, the players respect him, and i say give him a shot

or maybe i just hate mike dunleavy...

but it seems like the rockets are losing options quick, and here is an option that would certainly make things interesting

He has great knowledge of the game. I would like him as an assistant. I believe the man loves his job more then anything. Who wants to see him leave broadcasting?

If the Van Gundy deal falls through, then I would prefer having Calvin as the coach over Mike Dunleavy. I honestly think Calvin could do a good job if given the chance. He acts like a character as a color commentator, but I bet he can be pretty serious when it comes down to business. Remember Calvin the player instead of Calvin the broadcaster when speculating about what his behavior would be as a coach.

As I've posted before, this is the ONLY reason he should be a coach. Just get him off the damn microphone. I think Calvin could be a good coach, but he should assist first. If he needs to go straight to a top job though, I hope it's somewhere else. Nothing he's said in the broadcast booth has convinced me he's ready to run a team. But again, it just might be worth it to get him off the microphone. No commentator's more annoying than he is with his cookies and his singing and his incredibly pathetic jokes about being broke.

My thoughts on Calvin Murphy as head coach: 'That would be unfortunate, Bill....'

he also brings that knowledge in the game.. he points out how the plays will work, what its effects.. he breaks out the plays. who will set the play, how the play will flow.. he points out what the players done wrong.. he is really good on commentating. he is like a coach on the media table. lol. his knowledge to the game makes him a great commentator. he's pointing out the where the weak-side is, what the rocs did wrong on some plays. he's a natural behind the mic. he's even better than bill walton. hehehe. but he is very VERY irritating when he talks about his cookies and personal matters.. hmm.. him coaching will not be that bad. but i dont see him a head coach yet.. imo, he's good as an assistant coach.. then, if he does well, he might be a great coach.

I agree 110%. What I do, is turn the TV down and listen to Gene on AM at the same time. Those guys are so much better than the moronic duo of Bill and Calvin. They paint a beautiful picture of the game with out the TV anyhow.
