Anyone buy this yet? I got it yesterday and I've watched the first three films so far. VERY COOL!! I especially loved the first one -- the story tied in so well with the movies!
Not yet..... I was hoping I could download them on the internet. Either way, I'll see them before watching "Revolutions."
yeah i've seen it. and i agree, its very cool. but still, it doesn't really discuss or explain anything you'd probably already know. i think my favourites are the first 5-6 animations. oh and animated female buttcheek is sooo freaking good. can someone who's played the game 'enter the matrix' post the story in it?
I watched it on ppv on satellite. I really liked it and the animations were pretty cool. It really didn't really explain much else, like fba34 said. I rented the Matrix game but only played like a few levels of it. I got to a level where I had to make sure someone stayed alive and that got me frustrated. The couple levels I played were somewhat like where the Matrix was in Reloaded, slightly before I think. Niobe and this other dude, Ghost I think, are the only characters available, I think. Wish I could tell you more.
Bought it last night and watched it. First 3 are excellent (Final Flight of the Osiris, both parts of The Second Renaissance). Kid's Story also relates to a (minor) character in Reloaded, and is a bit disturbing with the solution to getting out of the Matrix. I also liked A Detective Story quite a bit. The rest (Program, World Record, Beyond, Matriculated) all have their positives and negatives. I'm impressed with how much Square USA has improved it's animation since the Final Fantasy movie. And yes, computer generated female bootay can still be good. Be warned, this is not entirely for kids. The Second Renaissance Pt. 2 in particular. It discusse how the machines took over, and has some rather graphic violence during the battle scenes. All in all, an interesting mix of anime styles and ties in to the movies rather well.
Well, I finished watching it. Here's what I think: **** WARNING **** POSSIBLE (minor) SPOILERS BELOW 1. Final Flight of the Osiris -- GREAT!!! This one was flat out awesome!! The best of all. 2+3. The Second Renaissance Part I + II -- It's alright. The history of the Matrix is interesting, but some of it doesn't make whole heck of a lot of sense. But overall these are pretty good. 4. Kid's Story -- This one was pretty neat. The animation was weird, but it was still pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the ending. 5. Program -- I also really liked this one. I'd seen it on the 'net, and it wasn't really any different, I don't think. Still, one of the coolest ones! 6. World Record -- Interesting, but I didn't really like it too much. I didn't really get the point of it. It just seemed really like a waste of time. I kept hoping something big would happen, but in the end it just seemed to be a meaningless story. 7. Beyond -- I hated this one. It was neat to see the idea of having that glitch in the certain area of the matrix, but other than that, this one just dragged on and on and on and on and on . . . 8. A Detective Story -- Trinity!!! This one was REALLY COOL!! I loved the timeline of the story, and it was neat to see Trinity make an appearance. 9. Matriculated -- WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!!!???!!! That's fifteen minutes I'll never get back. Even if I'd smoked a pound of weed and drank a gallon of whisky, I wouldn't have enjoyed this. It was completely, utterly worthless, IMO. Worst on the disc, by FAR!!
i saw a lil clip of revolutions on "Enter the Matrix" game on PS2.. and from what i saw on that lil clip, revolution will be so tight! i think it'll be even better than reloaded!!! Animatrix is off tha hook!!!
I downloaded the 4 free episodes from the Matrix website and seen one on MTV. I have to say I was really really impressed. I've never seen animated feature film sponsored by an U.S. company done this well. I like Disney movies and all, but US made animated films usually lack the sort of intellectual stimulation Japanese Anime does. Someone mention Square USA did it. It definitely had a lot of anime influence in style of drawing, pace of the movie, and the story sequences. I usually never look highly on anything animated that didn't come out of Japan but this has blown my mind. Definitely gonna get the DVD. Hopefully this will generate more interest in real anime (not freaking pokemon) and hopefully be the start of the industry in the U.S.
If you want a complete detailed synopsis of Enter the Matrix (including the game plot and cutscene dialogue), do a search for Enter the Matrix Walkthrough on Google, head to the site that says "GameFAQs: Enter the Matrix - FAQs and Guides," then click on the link at the bottom that says "Plot FAQ (PS2)". For some reason, I couldn't link the FAQ directly...
Hmm. SPOILERS I really thought 'World Record' and 'Matriculated' were two of the most creative of all of them. 'World Record' - the idea that there are other ways to become 'aware' of the Matrix. The idea of an athlete pushing himself to the limit, giving him the 'clarity' to understand that something was wrong, was very interesting. Particularly the somewhat bittersweet ending...though it leaves it a little open. 'Matriculated' - Just a cool idea. Trying to approach the war against the machines a different way - by bringing them to the 'human' side. And with their own 'mini-Matrix', no less. Of course, we see the danger in this in the story, but it opens up so many story possibilities it's incredible. Of all, I thought 'Beyond' the weakest. Takes a relatively simple idea and doesn't really get too creative with it.
I bought the Animatrix but I really wish I didn't now. Some of the shorts were ok and they had their moments but they were nothing special. However, I really don't care for 8 to 10 minute short stories because as soon as I start to get into them they're over. But that's me.
I liked the first one. especially the 1st part. The Renaissance parts were kind of interesting, but overall too japanese violent for my taste, it was kind of realistic, which was sort of freaking me out. Kid's Story really helps if you have seen Reloaded and wondering what the hell the kid part was. Program was ok, I got it, but it seemed weird. World Record was kind of cool, But I didn't really fully understand it. Beyond... ugh this one pissed me off, I kept waiting for something to happen and nothing did. I understand it was a glitch in the matrix, but they made it really damn drawn out. A detective story was probably my favorite, even though it looked like they were using computers in 1940. The story was cool, too bad the detective didn't make it. Matriculated was very moving, It was hard to follow, the ending wasn't very satisfactory, but overall a very cool concept.
