I haven't seen any posts about this, so I figured I'd post it. The crew making "The Animatrix", an animated Matrix movie finished the first part today. It's available for download and viewing at http://www.theanimatrix.com

Very interesting. DVD release planned later this year. The first part gives some interesting backstory to the whole Matrix thing. Kindof makes the humans out to look pretty bad so far. The animation is somewhat like Anime, but it reminds me more of the Batman: The Animated Series drawings. Very good so far. Can't wait until the next section is released!

Looks like anime to me, infact, it's supposed to be. It's no secret that the Wachowski bros. were influenced by anime, the Ghost in the Shell being a good example. Here's what the site has to say.

Only 2 of the 9 won't look like anime and that's because they are being done by Square(Final Fantasy) and Peter Chung who did Aeon Flux. The other directors are Mahiro Maeda (did something called Blue Submarine 6, never heard of it), Shinichiro Watanabe (Director of Cowboy Bebop, the greatest series ever), Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll), Takeshi Koike (don't know him), and Koji Morimoto (don't know him).

I don't really care what style it's in, as long as it looks good and the stories are interesting.
