Today, in a suprising move Clear Channel announced that the 1190 Frequency it bought from Radio One is now "Xtra Sports 1190". ESPN earlier this year announced that it will start up ESPN Radio 103.3 in mid-March. The Ticket 1310/1700 had been Dallas's only Sports Station.

Its amazing that Dallas in that span of a month and a half is going from 1 sports station to 3! The Ticket is all local except for overnights. However, ESPN and Xtra will mostly broadcast their syndicated programs (ESPN and FOX Sports/Jim Rome). With both stations pledging to implement local afternoon shows.

With Dallas now going to have 3 Sports stations, I guess the chances of Houston getting another one is now pretty good.

WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Finally a decent alternative to that crappy Ticket. I never heard about 103.3. Wow... an FM sports station would be SWEET. Especially in the buildings I work in that seem to be shielded from all forms of radiation including light and heat. [IMG]

"No Brain Grant, no trade." -- Typos are a b**** as ZRB is holding Rocket trades hostage while he seeks a brain. Conspiracy theorists say this would explain why Hakeem has yet to be traded...

I've just never been all that interested in listening to all the syndicated stuff. What do I care what some yahoo from Cleveland (or C-Town, if I'm listening to Rome... which I almost never do) cares about the Indians or the Browns or whatever. If I am going to bother to listen to sports talk, I want it to be local sports talk.
