    I'm afraid that Afghanistan may very well be Obama's downfall.

    He should be reading a biography of LBJ.

    I think it's ironic that the goals in Afghanistan - stopping the Taliban and possibly capturing UBL - are more reasonable and straightforward than the ones in Iraq; but the prospects for success are probably somewhat less likely.

    Nope, though I agree with Buchanan pretty much on Afghanistan. Is it really worth a near perpetual war? So far we have installed a narco regime in Kabul and destabilized Pakistan, making 10's of millions of Pakistanis hate us.

    Are you deviating from Ron Paul on this?

    It would have been much better if we'd just let those responsible for planning and executing 9/11 remain in a safe haven Afghanistan.
