how would you describe it...id say its letting players find themselves and play without pressure but at the same time leading a group with fierce passion and putting them in the best possible position to win. our struggles are not his fault, but our ultimate successes will be because of his leadership.

denniscd you just got on my bad side man.

I just invented the phrase "the adelman way" in a response to your post at 1:34

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=3355615&postcount=44

and you stole it two minutes later in this thread and did not even give me props.

    :(

I am lowering your thread rating to 4 stars for plagiarism w/o attribution.

    exactly right.

lets not be the like knick fans that blamed larry brown for the players lazy, selfish attitude.

when you have a great coach and the players arent working out, it's usually the players fault.

remember, this team was put together to be a half court-defensive monster. theyre great at that. adelman is trying to get them to be a creative offensive team. chuck hayes and shane battier (for example) are just not meant for that.

some roster changes are needed in order for adelman's offense to really get into high gear.

Agreed. Larry Brown had the knicks on track and isiah ran them off the rails. Larry Brown was a man that was true to his team. it is a shame the players couldn't be as true as Larry Brown.

Yeah.....but I still think sometimes it is inexplicable on some of his rotation and substitution tactics.

And I would like you to explain or name me another NBA head coach that won't call for a time out when your team got hit by a 13 ~ 0 run by the opponents like what we had in 1Q in the loss to Boston Celtics.

    Phil Jackson probably.

I think Adelman's game plan for the last 5 mins or so was pretty good... Spread out the floor with perimeter players (Head Rafer Bonzi Battier) which cleared up the paint and let Yao operate down low. KG just defended Yao perfectly while hitting some pretty big shots...

I'll believe it when I see results. Right now, we qualify as the most underachieving team (okay, possible the Bulls deserve that title and we deserve the 2nd spot). Our expectations are so low right now that if we play a close game against one of the top 8 in the West, we are satisfied.

    The Adelman way:

A losing record with a new and improved roster compared to the one that the previous coach dragged to a 52 win season despite injuries to its key players.

    The Adelman way:

Talking to the media with an "aww shucks" demeanor that attempts to lead the fans to believe that you have just as much power over the team's failure as they do.

hey, Adelman "not drawing anything up" got Sacramento 61 wins a few years ago

I don't care if he lets the Rockets cut their nails on the sidelines like Mike Bibby, as long as they win. ITS ALL GOOD

New but improved? James and Francis have been busts. Scola has played well half of the time. The other half he isn't good enough to be a primary backup.

JHo has proven to be a big loss. He beat out Hayes for the starting position last seasoon and was a key player in getting that 52 win record as was Deke whose minutes have been rightly taken by Scola.

Hayes has been doing well but he's a starter by default. If JHo was still on the team he'd probably still be the starter.

So it could be said the Rockets lost two starters from that 52 win season. Promoted a backup to starter out of necessity and still don't have a reliable backup point guard who's ready to play now.

Guy's still learning his players. Let him experiment to find out who's here to play and who's here just because they already own homes here.

I don't think you really believe this. Even at Scola's worst he's still been better than Juwan. Not only is he more efficient offensively but he's also a better rebounder and has a Hayes-like motor making hustle plays and creating extra possessions.

Yeah riiiiiiight! According to this "logic", Adelman gets credit but no blame. That makes a lot of sense. The teflon coach.

    Riiiiiiiight.

How would I describe it? I'd say not motivating players or holding them accountable. I'd say underachievment and belief in a system that is not working for this particular team and not stressing team defense.

I am assuming you are being sarcastic with your post so I won't continue...

Adelman sucks! Period! I don't give a freak about his previous records 20 years ago! Unless he listens to someone else, because it's obvious that he doesn't have any new ideas, we will NOT make the playoffs!

What? I haven't seen any passion from Rick. Maybe you get different camera angels of the bench but I sure haven't seen it. Seriously, he looks almost as unintrested in games as T-Mac. A couple times a game he'll give the , "What foul?" look and sit back down. Hell, Deke looks like more of a coach than Rick the Ruler.

I'd say our recent rash of "moral victories" has more to do with the role players finally shooting a % that is closer to their career averages and Rafer playing above his head. Over the last 3 games Alston has shot 6-12 for 18 pts, 8-17 for 22 points, and 8-16 for 18 points. That type of shooting from the PG spot has alot more to do with the team looking good than any magical sudden grasping of the Adelman way. Unfortunately expecting that to continue the rest of the season is highly unlikely.
