I like that the Rockets are starting to use Yao and Cato exclusivley at center.

At the Power Forward Thomas has ingrained himself a solid spot. Griffin and Taylor are still fighting amongst themselves for that backup role.

At Small Forward Rice has played solidly.

At Shooting guard Mobley is a true star.

And at the point Francis the all star is always doing something. His backup is playing a lot better as well, good going Moochie.

    C--Yao---------Cato
    PF-Thomas----Taylor or Griffin
    SF-Rice
    SG-Mobley
    PG-Francis----Norris

It's taken 18 games but the line up is taking shape. Playoffs are no longer a pipe dream.

I think starting PF is still up for grabs.

:D ...ahhh...gotta love the positive posts...its so nice when the rockets win.

I do believe the rockets have an awesome set up right now with players, and I dont think there is anyone I would trade...and break up the core group. Not at the moment, Moochie is out of his slump, Taylor is now in his slump and Rice, well I can never tell, it's always off and on for him.

we've also seen KT play with EG about as much as the 3 guard lineup. It looks like KT is sliding over to spell Rice.

I agree with Cohen. The starting PF spot is up for grabs, but I get the feeling it won't change much more. I still want us to return KT back to 3 with match-up work at the 4 to cover the big boys on occassion.

With Mobley back, we don't need Rice's offense as much. That's not to say bench him. But I hope Hawkins or TMo step up with some good defense. So I say, go to a 9 man rotation, with one of those guys coming in for Rice when we need defensive stops. Also, Rice shouldn't play more than 25mpg.

KT should do well at the 3, and yes if either MOt or EG has a nice week, or a couple of breakout games, the spot will once again be handed to someone else

I think I pretty much agree with every post on this thread so far. The thing that has shown up in the games lately is all the guys are contributing as a unit. Solid defense and unselfish offense. The distribution of assists and rebounds is unreal in the last few games.....The power forward problem is over.... if MoT and Eddie cant step it up ..KT will. He will get the minutes at the 3 and 4, where ever needed.

Didn't mean to be pessimistic blackwidow, more cynical really. Everyone's full of praise when we win and everyone has answers when we lose, even after one game in an 82 game season!!

KT can play either position well. EG just camps at the 3 point line and doesn't have the low post moves that KT has, which you would probably agree with.

I still would also like to see TMo get more time. He is a big body and has a nice shooting touch. Grabs a few boards every now and then.

I know this sounds stupid and you normally don't try it, but for entertainment value, why couldn't we stick:

    SF - PG
    CM - SG
EG - SF (Plays likes one)
    KC - PF
    YM - C

Could you image someone trying to go in the middle on a 2-3 zone on that line up?

I think Kenny is getting alot of minutes because he is being shopped, they wouldn't bench eddie and hinder his development without a good reason.

No, we should not put KC and YM on the court at the same time, simply for foul concern, can't imagine the situation when both of them get 3 or more fouls after 3 quarters!

I'm still not sold on Rice playing big minutes at the 3. He's a huge defensive liability, slows down the offense, and is still shooting close to 40%. Unless his shot is particularly on, he shouldn't play more than 24 minutes. I think we're better off having KT slide over to 3 and get either Griff or MoT some more time at the 4(they'll break out of their funk soon.) TMo/Hawk should see the rest of the minutes at the 3, especially if we need the D.

8-man rotation my rear. Hawk is still getting quality minutes. KT/Griff/MoT all three get minutes albeit not every game. Even TMo has been getting some minutes.

There are really 11 people Rudy is still trying to feel out. It's true that you touched on the core group there but I don't feel the rotation is set at all. Rudy still has more work to do.

    What a great problem!

The good reason is...He's NOT helping us win out there. This isn't last year when a quarter into the season, we had little hope of getting into the playoffs. This year, everyone's expecting us to at least get in. I don't think we should sacrifice wins just to allow Eddie to "develop." He (and Boki) will start playing when they can help us win on a consistent basis.

It's almost January--didn't Oielpere (sp?) expect a trade around that time to clear up our forward situation? What would that do to all this "feeling out the rotation" thing the Rockets have had going on all season?

Seems to me that it would be bad timing if a trade did happen, with all these games building the ever-important chemistry. Unless we got rid of sour apples and get a good locker room presence in return, I'm wary. (doesn't sound like there are any problems, but maybe there could be once a rotation is set)

No, Doc Rocket said he expected a trade of KT last season, then found out in July ("for reasons I couldn't say") that he wouldn't be traded in the Summer, but one of the PFs would be traded "by January." I don't know what was scoop versus strong speculation on his part, though. I can't even imagine CD being so certain what he'd do that far out, much less someone who doesn't make the player decisions.
