Of their heart, my god these guys play hard. I love watching them play, they play the game with as much heart as our old Houston Rockets did when they were winning the championships. I also think the Lakers have a hard time against teams with small & quick backcourts. They struggled against the Rockets and Clippers.....and this is the first backcourt they have seen in the playoffs that is quicker then they are....I am still picking the Lakers to win, but I am rooting for the 76ers. The Fakers took them lightly, having had it so easy in the playoffs so far. Sixers just may sweep them. ------------------ One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.

OK, let's not blow the Philly win out of proportion here. If Mutombo stays out of foul trouble and Iverson can find away to get around T.L. then they have a shot at taking the series, but I wouldn't bet on a sweep. The Sixers did play clutch today. What a shot by Bell to get them back within one! Great three by Iverson too. I liked how he walked over T.L. after he skooled him. ------------------
I was extremely impressed with how the Sixers played down the stretch. And from tip to buzzer, this was one of the most entertaining games of the year. ------------------
we are all tired of seeing Lakers...time for new team to win! ------------------ I eat nutria now..courtesy of mc mark!!!
Now Lue did play great defense on Iverson for much of the second half. But this is the MVP we're talking about on a team that has the coach of the year. Lue will not be the stumbling block for Iverson. Iverson just needs to run off picks a little more and get Lue chasing him then blow by. I mean, Iverson has torched much much better defenders in his day. ------------------ I hope, when they die, cartoon characters have to answer for their sins.
The 76ers have a chance for the same reason the Rocks give the Lakers headaches... SPEED. Like the Rocks, the 76ers aren't the biggest team, but they quick and tenacious. They are the perfect counter to a power team like the Lakers. ------------------
The Lakers looked terrified last night during the portion of the game I watched (third quarter). They looked completely uncomfortable with the idea that they'd have to play hard for 48 minutes to beat Philly; I think San Antonio's complete pansy-ass rollover in the WCF spoiled the Lakers. Heck, even when LA made their run and closed the gap, they looked more relieved than assured. It wouldn't surprise me terribly (and I say this only in the context of having watched Game 1-- I would NEVER had said this 24 hours ago) if Philly swept the series or won it in five games. Namely, that's because the Sixers apparently can disrupt the Lakers offensive flow, and LA had no answer for it last night. ------------------ "It's a funny thing, 'friends' You got beginnings and you got ends I guess I'll see you when we're ashes again-- Chris Robinson
If Lue is allowed to put as much hads on Iverson as he did last night. . . . Iverson absolutely TORCHED Kobe. Rocket River ------------------
I just think the 76ers play with heart and desire...our young Rockets could learn a lot from watching them hustle all over the place, especially on defense. DaDakota ------------------ If you like RTS games, check out this one. www.frontierwars.com coming soon to a PC near you.
Ah... I still think the win is being overdone. This is the game in which Philly had the biggest advantage. LA was coming off a 10 day lay-over, and had to deal with all the hype about going undefeated. The hype is dead, and they're back to business now. Philly's just going to get more tired as the series goes along, and LA will stop being rusty. Both Shaq and Bryant are probably better than AI. I don't think Mutumbo is that good. I never have... thought the Ratliff trade was silly. I wouldn't be surprised if it went to 7 games... but I think Philly's surprise is over. And the most talented team wins far more often than not. ------------------ A few years back on the Senate floor... Phil Gramm: "If Democrats could, they'd tax the air we breathe." 10 day lay over is a disadvantage vs a team tha is bruised batter and scarred? Rocket River ------------------
RR: I know, it can cut either way. If Philly had that 10 day layover, I'd say it would be beneficial for them. But LA was already pretty healthy, and the wait could only rob them of their momentum while simultaneously exposing them to the media hype. If it had been a 4 day wait... advantage LA. 10 days... in these circumstances, advantage Philly. ------------------ A few years back on the Senate floor...
