    He seeks to to impose, nationwide, a higher minimum age to buy a gun, universal background checks, a “reasonable” waiting period for gun purchases
    and a ban on “the civilian purchase of assault weapons.”

    I stated this before but you don’t need a Constitutional Amendment for any of that and given how hard it is to pass amendments it will be harder to go this route than to go through standard legislation.

    I’m pretty sure Newsome
    Is aware of this and it’s just posturing rather than a serious proposal.
