It's U.S. Open week y'all. This year the United States Open Championship returns to historic Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, PA; the site of Ben Hogan's memorable victory in 1950. Will we see a shot as astounding as the 1-iron Hogan hit on the 72nd hole in 1950? Tiger, Rory, and Adam grouped together for the first two rounds? Tiger Woods vs. Steve Williams? GO TIGER. P.S. What do y'all think of the wicker baskets at Merion? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/golf-...r-baskets-instead-flags-merion-173353981.html
I understand the tradition of the baskets at the course, but I thing they should have been removed for the Open. The tournament is bigger than the course it's played on. Just my opinion. That's a crazy grouping for the early rounds. Can't be an accident or coincidence. Still have to think Tiger is the favorite. If he can get to Sat with or within a couple shots of the lead, I think he's going to get his major.
Not that I would have a concern about him winning, but that certainly isn't going to help his already extremely fragile personality. He'll crack before he makes the turn in the first round.
Resumes at 11:10. It's going to be like this all day though, there a few more lines of storms coming in. The worst is supposed to be around 5
