From http://www.vancouversun.com/grizzlies/stories/010519/5021123.html If the Grizzlies can't give Detroit a pick in the top 18 this season, the Pistons will get the Grizzlies own pick in 2002, provided it is not in the top five, or 2003, provided it is not first overall. Ironically, Houston is in a position to get this year's No. 18 pick - via Orlando, Phoenix and New York in a deal too complicated to lay out - and owes the Grizzlies a first-round pick sometime in the next three years as part of the Steve Francis deal. That pick is supposed to be within two of the Rockets' own selection - No. 13 this year - but the Grizzlies would willingly amend that requirement if they could get their hands on No. 18. Complicating the situation is that the Grizzlies' deadline for satisfying the Pistons this season is June 1, a few days before the deadline for Orlando to decide if it will take the pick from Phoenix. If Orlando does that, the pick automatically goes to Houston.
It doesn't make since to me why Orlando is helping Detroit. I wonder if the rockets are trying to pry another pick from Vancouver. I have to give props to Juan Valdez on this one as it serems Vanc was overconfident. Good find Cat5 ------------------
So what if We gave the 18 pick to Vancouver, Then Vancouver sends it to Detroit, then Detroit sends it back to us to settle there dues with the Rockets sounds nice huh? ------------------ When I was Little I call in a local sports show and told them the Rockets should Trade Otis Thorpe for a Lottery Pick. They found me to be stupid.
.....the 18th pick goes to houston via orlando through atlanta, boston, charlotte, chicago, cleveland, dallas, denver, detroit,g.s., houston, indiana, lac, lal, miami, millwakee, nj, ny, orlando, philly, phoenix, portland, sacramento, sa, seattle, toronto, utah, vancouver, memphis, and washington ------------------
If Vancouver is really desperate enough, maybe we can force them into a trade. Here's a three way with Chicago that works, cap wise anyway. Houston sends Walt/KT/Drew obligation to Chicago. Houston sends LOS/#18 pick(assuming we get it) to Vancouver. Chicago sends Crawford/Fizer to Vancouver. Vancouver sends Stromile to Houston. Vancouver sends Bibby to Chicago. Houston's reason for doing it: We drop $4.4 mill in salary(or $2.2 mill more than if we just opted out of LOS's contract) & acquire Swift. I know he didn't show a lot last year, but he's got major upside & Rudy/CD were high on him last year. Chicago's reason for doing it: They get a true PG & are released from our strangle hold on their draft picks. They also acquire a very good & cheap backup for Brand. Vancouver's reason for doing it: They get the #18 pick that they're desperate for, LOS whom they can opt out on, Fizer & Crawford to replace Swift & Bibby. It all depends on how desperate Vancouver is & what Orlando might want to send the pick over. hmmmm.... Any thoughts? ------------------
I'd still like to find a way to get Shareef if the Webber Sweepstakes doesn't work out. Francis Mobley Shareef Mo Hakeem I like the look of that! ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! Don't visit my site.
Shareef costs too much & according to the more knowledgeable posters, doesn't play "D". I'd rather try to get Swift first. Besides, this lineup looks better: C: Dream PF: Webber SF: Swift SG: Mobley PG: Francis ------------------ [This message has been edited by Hottoddie (edited May 20, 2001).]
