.....and i did not vote for him. http://www.lakerstalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3913&start=0 http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?topic=35310&forum=1&14 The next will be US media?
Who freaking cares what the lakers' fans think. You must have some inferiority complex not to vote for someone because your opponent doesn't deem him worthy.
biased people. what kind of backlash could this really cause that could affect anything important is what i'm wondering. remember when ichiro suzuki got voted as a starter and had that monster year being MVP and ROY?? people said japanese stuffed the box blah blah but after a month or two of domination by the mariners, media and critics alike were silenced. yao will just have to play the way he's been playing and the doubters left in america will go away. and besides, it's the lakers' fans--they're mad b/c their center, whom have missed the beginning of the season and is tippin in at almost 400 lbs, haven't led the team back yet. what..he should get awarded for his par play so far??
hi, If the all star game is: a) performance test: shaq is better than yao at this stage of their career, no doubt about it. b) popularity test: I have no problem if yao is voted by US fans only, just like kobe. My concern is that I would feel uncomfortable too if my tv programmes in Hong Kong is voted by american fans. I just dont want yao to be hated by american fans as a result by the hype. I think the recognition by the nba coaches would be much more meaningful to yao in this early stage of his career.
And that is why I am glad your vote won't matter. I like what Shaq had to say...and you can pass this along to the crying Laker fans: "It happens to the best of us," O'Neal said. "When I came in, I beat out Patrick Ewing. "He's making history for his people. His people are proud of him. They should be. One billion people -- that's tough to beat." Get over it.
It's the American fans who want to see him in as well: Posted by Free Agent in http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48945&pagenumber=2 From the Houston Chronicle's Johnathan Feigen "There is, however, one other bit of a surprise waiting for O'Neal. Yao no doubt received Internet support from China. But NBA spokesman Tim Frank said on Thursday that Yao was also leading in the "paper balloting" available in arenas and retail outlets in the United States."
Ok I've read from numerous people today that they have not counted the votes in China. Any truth to that? And will they count votes from China? Why even let them vote if they dont count it?
Stupid Lakers fans. A discussion about the all star voting instantly turns to arguments about racism and dog eating. Im glad we are on CC.net. Things seem a bit more mature here.
I think the ballots are only count within the u.s. which result yao got fewer votes. If they counted the china's votes, there will be millions of them. It is too bored to watch shaq plays. I prefer Ming. Shaq is out-dated, all he knows is dunk dunk dunk.
Another example of how low level Lakers fan are at. They are real pigs. Who is eating dogs? Their head is more dumb and stink than his mom's ass.
Yep, if somebody said anything like what that "professor" said on this board, he'd be first flamed by the weight of the members here and then got thrown out by Clutch.
so you didn't vote for him because of what other fans might think? who cares. apparently not even counting internet votes, ie: chinese votes, yao is still leading shaq so obviously people want to see him. either way this is no different than kobe starting his first game and then he had no buisiness even being on the team.
Why do we care what people say on a board that makes bright statements like: Plus, it really looks to me like there has been absolutely NO vote stuffing from China, otherwise i am 100% convinced he would have a lot more votes and be the leading vote getter in the league. Yao is being voted in by American fans...
Hi, Thanks for the comments from you guys. Actually, I dont care what other fans think if they are nonsense. I raised this topic because I think they have made some valid argument. As i said above, I think shaq is better than yao NOW and a US tv program decided by chinese voters is not very logical. That's why i did not vote for yao ( i did vote for francis by the way). I feel much more happy if the nba coaches rather than yao's fans think yao is one of the best centres in the WC.
I cant believe those comments came from California. It's a very diverse, liberal and open-minded state. There are idiots everywhere though.
then you should tell NBA about that because it is the NBA, the organiser of this tv program, that decided to make the voting open to chinese voters and voters of many other nationalities. and just because chinese can vote doesn't mean it's the reason Yao will start over Shaq. Did NBA say the vote difference between Yao and Shaq was made by Chinese voters? no. so your concern is unnecessary.
I kinda wish the all star vote was like the nfl. 1/3 for the fans, coaches and players. I'm not mad at Yao even though Shaq is the best center in the league, but just like last yr or even this yr when Francis beat out Payton even though Payton is the best pg in the league. It happened when Kobe was named the starter and didn't even start on his own team. Its been plenty of players who should have made all star, but didn't or was outvoted by the fans. Does anyone remember AC Green starting in front of a Karl Malone avg about 28pts per game? I wish Ming would stay home get some rest and get ready for the stretch run, but he'll go because it is an honor and you never know when it might happen again. Guys like Shaq, they really don't care to go and play anyway after being there 10 yrs in a row. I remember guys finding all kinds of last minute injuries to keep from going to all star games. It happens mostly to the older guys who have been there 8 times or more.
It's a cultural thing. Dogs are considered as pets, as opposed to a farmed animal (like sheep, chickens and cows). The thought of someone eating my dog distresses me greatly. However, if I had a pet chicken, then I'm sure the idea of someone eating him would distress me too.
