are those fishhooks? that's sickening to look at. At least post a link instead of just throwing up the pics without fair warning.
It's called suspension, some people see it as a means to enlightenment. Link January 19, 2005 By: Amy Rossi Extreme body modification involves practices that test a person’s limits and pain threshold. One such practice is body suspension, the art of hanging the body from objects in the skin, most often hooks. You can completely hang or partially hang during acts of suspension. Hooks used in suspension can be typical fishing hooks or locking hooks. A typical hook holds up to eighty pounds. The size used can range from eighteen to fourteen gauge. During suspension, the hooks should pierce only the skin, never the muscle. Engaging in suspension involves picking a part of the body from which to suspend. There’s a wide range of positions to choose from. Beginners in suspension should look at vertical back suspension (“Suicide”), where the hooks are placed in the back, and the horizontal face down suspension (“Superman”). The back also holds the hooks for this position. A horizontal face up, known as the Coma, is a more difficult one, as are other suspensions where the hooks are placed in the chest. Risks include constriction of breath and more intense pain. However, pain is part of the process. Modern suspension is derived from ancient rituals in which the body was suspended in order for a person to achieve better consciousness. The pain can lead to mind-opening, challenging, spiritual experiences. If you are considering engaging in suspension, it’s wise to get a physical to make sure your body is in the necessary condition. There are risks involved with doing this, including bleeding, dizziness, loss of consciousness, shock, and in extreme cases, death. You’ll want to work only with a well-trained team and to always have a medical professional on hand. Suspension is not easy; indeed, it is one of the more extreme types of body modification. But for those who do choose to go through with it, the spiritual nature and physical testing of the experience is worth the risks. Young man: So what do you do in you spare time? Young woman: You know normal stuff, hang out. Young man: Where do you hang out? Young woman: I like to hang out at the beach suspend from fish hooks. Young man: Wow! Up until now I had only met fish that like to be suspended from fish hooks. Young woman: Yes, it is all the rage. Before long you'll see Paris Hilton doing it too.
the google ads did not come through on this thread. just ads for bbs and hosting. edit: well now there's one for sex toys so i guess they did. the paris hilton mentions must've done it.
You want painful? Go here: http://leaguefreak.iirl.net/pictures.html Half way down the page.....painful.
i remember them doing a show about this on the discovery channel. They said that there are certain areas in the back that don't have as many nerve endings as the rest of your body so you basically don't feel anything after the initial shock of the hooks going into your body. After that your sensations are really weak and you don't feel anything. They showed numerous regions that have barely any nerve endings.
Man, with a nice beach right there you think there would be better things to do. One more week and I am on a nice beach!
