They should try running that play against him more often. It actually made him look mortal for a change.
Agree. Can't do it all the time since the element of surprise is probably the most important factor behind doing it, but would love to see McHale randomly sprinkle it in earlier in the game.
media: so r u gonna run the trap earlier in the game next time? mchale: that, you'll have to find out in next game. haha.
Switching on those picks is the worst case scenario. Yet we do it over and over again. it's the actually stupid that we continue to do it after seeing it doesn't work, it never did. Trap the ball!!!!
He's so small he's not like James were he can get trapped and jump in the air and Fire a bullet pass across court to the open shooter. Steph is no athlete he's got great handles and even better head fakes. If you can successfully trap him he has to float a pass in the air either we steal it or it gives us plenty of time to recover. This is going to be a must on the defensive side of the ball, we have the length we have the speed, now we have to excute.
You have to switch, or else you'll leave him open long enough for him to take a clear shot. The problem is after the switch, and he goes ISO (especially on TJ), you have to send a double from somewhere so he'll get give up the ball. Or if they don't want to double, TJ has to simply let him drive pass him and hope someone helps him inside.
And when he's in the trap, do the subtle booty hole poke. That'll get him rattled and cough up the ball... or not ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Our traps in the first quarter and a half of game 1 I felt were largely responsible for our large early lead. We forced quite a few turnovers and kept their offense out of rhythm until Livingston was able to get things going. I assumed we stopped doing it that game because we didn't have Dwight to recover when people were left out of defensive position. I hope we now do this more often because it continues to be effective against them.
