my first post... here we go, and for the record no i am not a girl, since i was too lazy to set up an account i got the woman to do it and so blah blah..monique! First, Rox WOn what a great game. Much props to Cat & Francis. The big guy took 18 shots and half of those shots was like 3 feet from the basket. Going against Hunter- Yao had like 7 inches and 70 lbs more than the guy and he still wasnt able to dunk the ball? Cheeze, seriously all of "YAo only fans" explain that one? had 4 days of rests so fratique is ruled out. Sure everyone has bad days but if you're 7-6 310 lbs shouldn't u be able to dunk the ball just once outa 18 shots? NO we dont wanna see him with his soft touch and finese, we wanna see a true dominant big man taking it to the basket and drawing fouls... not sum sissy throwing up sissy shots. Yao has 1 year under his belt now so dont use that as an excuse"in China they dont dunk" I saw Yao playing the Asian championship he was a beast now he come to Houston and becomes cinderella? The rox won and that's all that matters today, however we're playing the Magics, we gonna need cinderella to becomes more bashful if the rox to have any chance of playin the mavs, lakers, wolves, spurs, suns, kings. b4 i use to be frustrated with mobes and francis taking il- advise shots, now i get even more frustrated seeing cinderella take little hook shot from 2 feet away against smaller opponents. I might hurts alot of Yao fans feelings with this post, but you know if rox to bring past glory back to clutch city we gonna need Ming to to get DIRTY.
If I were you, I wait and post it until 10 games later if Yao is still like tonite. Otherwise I'm too pushy to look forward to Yao's output.
AGREED . I love Yao to death, but if he wants to be great he has to get "DIRTY" . Stop with the little layups and just throw it down. I saw him almost throw an elbow and got a technical. that was nice. I think he is starting to get fed up with people pushing him around. One step at a time. By the that b*@ch Juwan Howard was waving his finger at Yao after the foul when it looked like Yao wanted to throw that elbow. However Yao had already truned his back, guess Howard didnt have the sack to do it in his face.
Welcome to the BBS. Since this is your first post, hopefully they will go easy on you. Just know, you have only set yourself up for an unbridled bashing. And let us not forget- Hakeem was not dirty. Like Yao, he was "gentle" around the basket, deferring to fadeaways and finesse moves as opposed to trying to overpower his oponents and attacking the rim. And any fan of this team can tell you that watching the Dream was a thing of beauty. p.s. Hakeem gets props from Jay-Z on "My First Song" of the upcoming Black Album.
I'm fine with those hooks and layups as long as the ball falls. sure, dunks make scoring easier or safer, but it exhauses engergy and exposes you to higher risk of injury. you are just not supposed to ask everybody to become shaq. even Dream didn't dunk that much either. players should play in the way they feel comfortable and efficient. it doesn't matter how they score. people in Chinese use chopsticks to eat noodles, i'm fine with you using forks and knives as long as you can put the noodles into your mouth but not on your pants. simple. calm down man, yao just had an off night like T-Mac did.
i love how whenever someone has an off night, theres guaranteed to be a thread about how much they suck a few hours later. guy was hacked on his putbacks at least three times and no foul was called. i think next game he should hire some PLA snipers to take care of any dirty play.
I don't know about you but expecting somebody to change his style of play completely over the course of, say 6 games, is a little harsh. Some of you fans expect a quick fix to everything. I haven't been able to watch the Rockets except 1 game (nationally televised) but from what I have heard, he is indeed more aggressive. Damn, you expect him to turn into a Shaq over night? Same goes for Steve and Cat, stop all the bashing about how such and such shoot too much. These things takes time. It takes "TIME" to change. Tell me something. How do you change something that you been doing all your life in 1 day?
1. We are 4 - 1 2. We've won 3 in a row 3. We're playing great D 4. We've improved from last year Yao Ming (and the rest of the Rockets) could be playing on their freaking heads for all I care, as long as we keep winning. Stop whining.
Dream dunked so much, he knew he had to expand his game. He did and on came the myriad of moves that no center has matched before or since. Hakeem was a dunking machine in college and during his early years - a beast in the paint. He was still dunking during the championship runs - he just didn't need to do it as much since he had other ways to dominate.
Yeah watching that ESPN Classic game between Louisville and Houston in 83' made me remember just how much of a beast Dream was then. It made me realize just beastly Houston was then. I wasn't watching the game the whole way through but there was one part where Houston was down 6, and had a 12-0 run by dunking or attemping to dunk while being fouled that just left me stunned. Clyde with a one handed tomahawk, clyde with what would of been a one handed tomahawk that he altered in midair to a two handed slam, the guys fro was still above the rim while he was making those adjustments. Hakeem with a slam, and their two other guards that atleast looked as though they jumped just as high and fierce as Clyde did. It just made me realize that those plays were common back then, and how the announcers during that run didn't even overhype the dunks, and treated them as the norm, and made me reflect on how sports new channels like ESPN will hype a regular tomahawk if the right marketing player does it. That run of 6 straight dunks, where all easily could of been the top play of the day on ESPN top 10 nominees. Was just insane.
Hey, hey, hey, you leave Cinderella out of this, buddy!!! She grew up amid more abuse and neglect than anybody. She also made the most of what she had with what little she had. She never acted like she was entitled to anything more. Just because she realized true happiness despite minimal expectatations doesn't mean you can use her to mock someone else. If anything, I wish Yao was MORE like Cinderella, you ignorant buffoon.
