I just wanted to thank all the clutchfans that ever came out to Live Sports Cafe over the years. Last night was our last night as we are finally closing our doors. It is 1 month shy of our 7 year anniversary there in Downtown. I'll spare you all the details but basically the economy, the closing of a lot of places in our area, and the opening of a newly city backed downtown pavilion has really put a crunch on us and we are not able to sustain staying open anymore. I have had a lot of good memories there and have met a lot of people from board and I appreciate all your support. You guys know who you are and I'm sure I will be keeping in touch. Thanks to Derrick and Miguel who came out last night and shared some laughs and memories as we drank the night away. If you got some memories please share... The one I will add to the mix is the first ever time I held a Clutchfans viewing party and the thread got so much publicity on here that the Rockets came to us and said that they were trying to do a viewing party but saw how many people were going to the one I created on here that they couldn't compete so instead they joined us. Second would be sharing the moment that we clinched to go the World Series.... I could go on and on but overall thanks to everyone who ever came out!
I don't really go out on the town in Downtown, but when the Astros clinched I did take my friends to Live when we were celebrating with the rest of the city. I remember people all standing on the stage and singing along to every song that was playing, it was really fun that night.
I am so sorry Stack, this is where I met all the Clutchfans before the game against NJ last year during the streak. That place was AWESOME ! DD
MadMax faints. You were always so gracious to me and my family every time we were in there...whether with my wife or my kids. I remember watching some March Madness in there with RM95 and Major. Was looking forward to catching some of the tourney there again this year. RIP Tyson Burger. I will really miss Live Sports Cafe. Thanks for the good times.
WOW. I had my first Clutchfans experience there when I came out to Houston for the 2007 playoffs and Dave had that group for game 1 of the playoffs. It was a rocking place so many people all in red all hooting and hollering for the Rockets. I will never forget it. I would always go to Live whenever I was in Houston....its a shame that I wont be able to anymore. Thanks for the memories
Man, that sucks. I liked meeting friends for beers there for games on occasion. Had no idea it was owned by a fellow clutchfan. It was a great place
Yeah that was a fun time. Definitely an experience I will take with me cause I doubt it happens again at least not for a while. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the place when you were here. It was great meeting you and your family. You were one of my regular clutchfans and always enjoyed our conversations. Yeah tourney time was always a blast watching the games with everyone taking 3 hours lunches lol
You really couldn't have told us about this a month ago? Seriously, it would've been nice to have a "final" gathering there.
Damn, Stack....sorry to hear that. I was hoping to come by and check out the place, but I guess I missed out.
Back when I worked downtown, I had quiet a few lunches there... especially during March Madness. I also remember telling a Cardinals fan that he was a douchebag for talking so much smack to the deflated Astros fans after the Pujols - Lidge incident.
I would have but there were a lot of factors that went into not telling everyone until the last minute. Sorry about that Fatty Would have enjoyed getting you drunk haha
Sorry to hear you guys are closing down. I had some great times there. Whether it was chillin playing pool or hanging out on the patio. Thanks for always offering discounts to clutch members.
damn, sorry to hear it man. some great memories formed at that place, not to mention some nasty hangovers. thanks for all you ever did for us.
I hate to hear that Live has closed. I always enjoyed going there and had some great times hanging out. Stack, good luck in whatever you do next.
yea, i got a speeding ticket going to Live...how's that for a nice memory. in all seriousness, I met Fatty and droxford, Master Baiter and his wife, and countless other rocket fans during the playoffs. you definitely hooked us up. thanks and so sorry to hear about the closing.
Really sorry to hear that. I've only been to Live once and had a great time meeting Clutchfans Darkhorse, Pasox2 and the lovely Akperez and her friends. Unfortunately it was in 2006 when the Rox were terrible and the season had just ended so I didn't get to experience celebrating the Rockets. My favorite memory though about the place has nothing to do with a game or even being there but a couple of years ago a poster got really pissed at Sam Fisher in a thread about Richard Jefferson being gay and he seriously wanted to fight Sam and King Cheetah. He suggested they all meet at Live and have a throwdown outside. I think you, Stack, offered to have drink specials if they did it. Sorry to hear you are shutting down so soon and if you somehow keep the place going until the end of this month I will gladly stop by and have a drink when I am back in Houston on the 26th.
Sorry to hear it, Stack. I never made it down to the place but it was on my list of things to do. Now I regret not going and meeting up with some of you guys.
