Here is the history of the Texans video. This made me teary. I got it from TexansTalk message board and I thought CF is also a good place to put it here.

I really love the team name and logo. I love Texans.

    Enjoy...

It was long and twisted road to respectability, and I am not sure we are really there yet. But at least the Texans are competitive. The Oilers started strong but with the exception of the "luv ya blue" era were a slow torture to the Houston football fan for around 40 years.

tbh it was pretty much a compilation of a ton of already available youtube videos with a bad soundtrack thrown on top.. kinda scattered as well.. it starts with bulls on parade highlights than goes to the kprc videos from way back and jumps to the 2011 season.. not much history there..

You took what I wrote the wrong way. By respectability, I mean "feared" reputation, like no team wants to see us coming to town. Since most of our national tv appearances weren't too impressive, we don't have that reputation, yet. I think you have to finish high in the playoffs a few times, win a few division or conference championships, and a super bowl or two before you get the full respect of football nation. We have a ways to go. The Ravens have done it in a relatively short time. The Steelers have had the "bad" rep for a long time. No one wants to play New England and the Giants can be scary. We are more like Atlanta, talented but most think we will fade when the heat is turned up.

The Oilers sucked for 15 years before they got good. And then went dormant for another 5-6 years, and then had some playoff appearances in the late 80s early 90s.

The Texans sucked for TEN years! now what's up.

Until we advance far into the playoffs, this is all you can say about the team. Plenty of teams have great regular seasons but falter in the playoffs. For example, if we lose Denver in our first home game after a 13-3 season, then "competitive" will be what we are this season.

so you are saying teams fear other teams based on how they perform on national tv games?

Think about it, what are the most nationally televised games? Playoff games and the Sunday, Monday, and Thursday games during the regular season. Positive exposure builds reputation. With the Texans, their shaky performances against the Jets, Packers (especially), and the Lions cause some to question the validity of their record. That is understandable. I think the Bears game helped some, but the Raven and Bronco victories were only regionally televised. The more positive "national" exposure the better so far as building reputation is concerned.

Jim Parsons just mentioned the Texans on Leno...nothing extensive, but said they are his choice to watch, if they're playing (he's from here).

ATL wishes they were Houston at this point. Bunch of first timers walked into the playoffs and won their 1st playoff game with the crew they have. ATL is about to be in year 4 of looking for that 1st playoff win under this regime. (and if they get GB or NY in the Divisional, they'll get bodied AGAIN at home)

"feared teams" when you look at your schedule:

AT Ravens (Playing BAL on the road is still tough, but no one wants to play at M&T)
    Patriots
    Giants
    Packers
    Steelers

I see your ATL point though. They, however, go completely BRAIN DEAD on both sides of the ball in the playoffs.

Ravens and Broncos, actually, WERE national games to a point. Only Tennessee, NY state, Ohio and Indiana didn't see BAL/HOU in week 7. Most of the country saw that asswhuppin'.

As for DEN, kind of the same. It was that 3:25 "game of the week" slot.

To me, both games had a ton of exposure for the Texans.

i respect bud adams for what he did. The oilers won the first two afl championships. Bud and the original afl owners forced the merger. And i respect mr mcnair and apologize for getting hung up on the name.
