I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but does anyone else think that Mark May will end up murdering Trev Alberts live during a post-game show? Alberts has to be one of the biggest idiots ever, and his condenscending attitude towards May is really pissing him off. He's been close to b****-slapping his ass a few times already tonight.
There's just something about Trev's demeanor that makes him easy to hate. He speaks his opinions a little too matter-of-factly and seems to dismiss other views in an annoyed manner.
I've heard people say Mark and Trev are friends and act like they're about to get into a fight cause that gets people talking about them and watching the show.
That averages out to 11 yds a completion (153 yards). Take out yards after catch from that - how many passes did he connect on that exceeded, say, 10 yards?
How many passes did he attempt over 10 yards? I think the big completion to David Thomas was one - don't know of any others. I don't recall us going deep too often - mostly because we didn't have to - especially since the secondary was the strength of UNT's defense.
Our tailbacks were running at will all day long. What's the point of throwing deep? Especially since the game was decided at halftime 44-0.
> 10 yards I wouldn't call deep ... Seems like every time they tried, the pass wasn't on target. Of course they didn't have to - all they had to do was show up to win. 'Strength of UNT's defense' is a bit of an oxymoron ... Seems like a good time to practice throwing downfield. But oh well, they haven't done that since Applewhite.
Didn't say anything about throwing DEEP, just throwing downfield. The 'point' might be that they may have to do that against halfway decent teams to win.
yeah, our running game was great yeasterday. This is the only opening game in the Mack Brown era where you can look at it and there were no worrisome indicators for future games - like a porous defense, or crappy o-line, or bad running game. and while UNT isn't a bad team, they'll beat Baylor again - and they'd give A&M a game.
yeah, that was one of our most complete demolitions of a team ever under mack. we didn't even have an interception, long fumble return, or punt or kickoff return and still racked up 65 while shutting it down with 10 minutes to go. and i've never seen wholes for the running backs like yesterday. benson did a good job of driving for extra yards after contact but it seemed like every time he hit the line he had an enormous whole to run through. it was just an amazingly complete performance. hell, nordgren was running on them and even got to score a TD. i don't even know who the QB we had in at the end of the game was (#13?). on D, we smothered everything and DJ got a nice start to his butkus campaign with 3 forced fumbles. it sucked that ramonce (who looks damn fast) only got to 96 yards to keep us from 3 100 yard backs but it was a damn fun game to be at.
Matt McCoy, I believe was under center. And Taylor is fast - he would've gotten 100, but Mack didn't want to look like he was running up the score - so the 4th and 5th stringers came in. If Mike Leach were involved, Vince would've played the whole game and kept throwing passes into the endzone even as time expired.
