FYI, Today is the last day of enrollment for the current plan.

I know the Texas Promise Fund in the past was great and this is not quite as good.

We have a 2 month old so we have time to decide what to choose (you have a year for newborns).

My question is what is everyones recommendations in todays world. To me it seems like starting a 529 is a better idea since we have a lot of time.

Is this Texas plan worth it or is it better just to stick with a 529?

    529...

the cost of college education skyrockted. if you had done this 20 years ago for your kid who is now 20, you'd have made off like a bandit.

but i'm not certain the cost of college education is going to continue to rise at those rates. higher education may look very different in 18 years.

I have the Texas Tomorrow Fund. Its saved us thousands, I lost count how much. I think I've gone over my credits but they're still paying a portion of my tuition each semester.

yep...the people in college right now whose parents took advantage of the TTF...they kicked ass in that deal. Tuition rose at such a high rate for so long.
