hey guys i got accepted into both business schools at tech and texas state and cant decide which is the better school to go to and i was wondering if you all had any info on both campuses, the lifestyle, scenary, overall college atmosphere of both schools and which you would prefer, im also wondering which is better educationally, thanks a lot for the opinions you provide it will help me a lot in making my decision
depends on what you wanna do go to tech. theres nothing to do there. you'll focus on studying and its a guarentee you'll be successful at texas state you'll be drinkin everyday with the beautful women there...and you gotta find time to study its a tough one....
You'll probably end up with a better education at Tech, but if you want to really enjoy the next few years of your life, it would be hard to pass up TX State. San Marcos is a beautiful town and a great place to live for four years. Austin's thirty minutes away. I went to graduate school there at Tx State and it was a very nice experience and I loved the town. I don't know much about Tech other than it being so far away, but the people that I know that have gone there seemed to like the place. Good luck!
This is a tough decision. Both schools are roughly equivalent academically, and both have a ton of hot chicks. In San Marcos you can skip class to go tubing down the Comal or Guadalupe, and party in Austin occasionally on the weekends. Lubbock is a day trip from New Mexico, so you can go skiing in the winter time.
Texas State is a Division I school. If both business schools are about on par with each other academically my vote would be for Tx State as it's hard to beat it's location.
Texas State has the most beautiful campus and beautiful people. Also, it is bigger than Texas Tech in number of students, I think. Also, Texas state is only 20 miles from Austin and 6th street, and 40 miles from San Antonio and the river walk. Tech, well, it is less than 2 minutes from the nearest flat land and cactus. There is no contest, Texas State is superior in every way concerning lifestyle. As for academics, they are about even, and PSSSST...it doesn't matter where you go to college 2 years after you graduate, so I would choose to go to the school where you fit in the most. Texas State - Beautiful people and serene campus. Tech - Cowboys, cowgirls and lizards. You choose. DD
Don't let these guys give you a negative view of Lubbock. Lubbock is a typical college town. Beautiful women, pleanty of bars, clubs, we got em. There are always good games at the rec if you want to play some ball. Tech also has one of the largest campuses in the country. (maybe the largest i forget). Since I came here 4 years ago Lubbock has changed alot. Across the football stadium that used to be the rough part of town since Ive been here they've wiped that whole area out and have made several nice apartments. I stayed in one for about 6 months typically thats where sophmores live at. If your an incoming freshman I'd suggest you stay at Weymouth hall. It is very close to the rec, business school and the library. It is 12 stories high and right next to that is a 12 story girls dorm called chitwood. It gets tough to study but the library is a 2 minute walk. Awsome times so good I was in no rush to get out and lived there for 2 years. People that don't go to Tech say there is nothing to do. IMO if you can't entertain yourself as a college student in Lubbock the problem is you not the city or school. Also I can say that Lubbock has to be the one of the best drinking towns in the country its like drinking for free some nights. Your probaly not 21 but keep that in mind. If your underage there are some pretty good clubs just get buzzed before you go. If you got some questions let me know.
Rocketfan- As someone who has now lived in Lubbock for close to 7 years, let me say Amen. You can have fun here and the women are amazing. Right quick let me throw out a shameless plug, listen to AM 790 KFYO weekday mornings, I host the morning show from 6-8. Back to the main point of the thread; The business school at Tech is one of the areas they are trying to improve. Eventually they will build a whole new building for the College of Business, and they are adding professors to the campus all the time.
thanks a lot its just that i like to be near a big city and im afraid that tech is too out there for me like too boring nothing to do but i think it provides a better college life like u get the true college experience bc of there sports un like texas state
That's the only thing I dislike about being in Lubbock. I can't just catch an Astros or Rockets game whenever I want. But after I got used to Lubbock and purchased NBALP it's all good. I go out when I go back home in Houston. And I must say I'd rather be in a lubbock club maybe I'm just going to the wrong places in Houston. But the drink prices are insane and the girl:boy ratio is terrible. The football games are a blast. The program is improving every year and I think in the near future they can take the big 12 The basketball games are a blast too but honestly after Bob Knight retires I'm not sure if that will be the case if they aren't winning.
i would put tx state women up against any other school in the country. you dont even have time to watch one walk bye before you see another. and also the women outnumber guys there like 3 to 1 so thats something to think about.
If you are all about academics go with Tech. The value of that degree has a better chance of improving over the next couple of years. But make no mistake that spread shotgun offense is a gimmick. Just like Bob Knight.
I haven't been to either campus or either city for that matter. However, I've never heard anyone gush over Texas Tech (other than this thread). I have, however, heard people talk all sorts of stuff about the women at Texas State.
