Wow Congrats Tigers! Could 18- 33 TSU have delivered the fatal blow to the defending national champions?
That's almost like a #16 beating a #1 in basketball. Good for Rice that it's double elimination. I feel sorry for Lamar or A&M.
Wow. I didn't even know that TSU had a baseball team. I thought that errm...African Americans no longer played baseball. Off the top of your head name as many active MLB starting pitchers that you can, other than Dontrelle Willis.
What would you do if you were the winner of tonight's game...would you start your # 2 against TSU or would you save him (for probably Rice) hoping TSU can't beat your #3 or # 4?
Yeah, that's not a bad idea, especially since you still have another game later that night agaisnt a team you already beat. BTW, no upset in Austin tonight...10-3 Horns.
Today wasn't a good day. Came so close at the end too... now we have to be on the edge of our seats for the rest of the weekend. We've come through the losers' bracket before. Our injuries aren't helping right now. At least Lamar (or A&M) will have been up all night, what with the rain delays, before they play us tomorrow morning.
Tough loss for Rice. Being a national champion and all I'd expect them to come out gunning after the loss and win the rest of the regional.. but stranger things have happened... hoping I''ll have a reason to visit a superregional as well. (if I can get tix.. if I have a reason)
The game was postponed until 10am this morning. They were only able to play until the 4th inning before the rain hit again. The loser will play Rice right after that.
Both of my parents went to TSU, and I have other family members who went there. My dad goes to all their games.
When I was in Houston, I lived pretty close to TSU (between UH and TSU, on Cullen Blvd.). I only went there once, though, when the Dalai Lama was there. I had always wanted to have a look at their law school library.
Not horrified at all. TSU played a great game. Simple as that. They beat one of the best pitchers in America. They deserved to win. Our crappy hitting got worse when we found out Pendleton is out for the season with an injury.
