The Texas Renaissance Festival starts this weekend. http://www.texrenfest.com/ We usually go 3-4 times a year and always on the first and last weekends. I was planning on taking the wife and kids but my wife now has to babysit her nephew so I'm going with my drinking buddies. I don't like the new electronic ticket system (I have an extra first weekend ticket that I could normally sell at the gate but now it has my wife's name on it) and I also heard that all swords and daggers will have to be tied in their scabbards. I can't wait to have some food on a stick and get some booze in my belly. Anyone else going?
Take your son Max. He would have a great time. My 5 year old daughter has been asking about the festival for the past 2 months. "Is it time yet?" "Is it time yet?" "Is it time yet?" "Is it time yet?"
yeah, i'd like to. we have soccer games for the next couple of months on saturdays...maybe we can mix it in.
I believe it was last year and it happend after the festival closed for the day and off grounds. In my young and stupid days I worked the festival for 8 years in a row! Some of the best times of my life. The best time to be at festival was when it closed at night and the performers had the run of the grounds. Everyone would camp out and some pretty wild **** went down! What a playground! Now of course the performers can camp out but I don't think they are allowed on the grounds at night! "sigh" goood times....
ah.. renaissance fairs, the last place on earth where you don't have to pay to call a woman a 'wench'.
Me and the wife might take a trip down to go to Renaissance Festival, they have one up here just outside of Dallas but we always have a ball at those things, lots of food and beer, what can be better?
I have always feared taking the kids (4-year-old and 7 year-old girls) to this, since there are many "weirdos" and I have seen some outrageous outfits. Can someone tell me if it is at least PG-13 or PG-rated there? Need a MEXICAN Goalie?
The Ren Fest is a whole lot of fun. I've been the last two years. Last two times I went it was real hot though. Would be nice to have an October cool front blow in this time.
I'd say it's PG suggested. I've never had a problem with taking my kids (3M & 5F this year) and I've never seen anything I have had to explain or shield their eyes from.
The last time I went was in 98 or 99 and it was about 40 degrees and raining. The only way to stay warm was cheap alcohol smuggled in, turkey legs, and boudin.
