I hope that this doesn't get superseded by federal law. I hope it doesn't mean people lose jobs either but pat downs are a bit too much at this point.

It probably already is superseded by federal law. The Texas House can't revoke qualified immunity for federal officials or modify TSA rules because it feels like it.

What is sad is that it requires a legislative bill to make it a crime for 'public servants to inappropriately touch travelers' in those areas.

I do wonder if it will stand up in today's climate, and if they even believe it will or if it is just posturing.

I know some people think we need to make ourselves more secure, but any politician's lean towards getting some of our privacy and freedom back, whether staged or otherwise, is alright in my book.

They never grab boobs or ass that I have seen. Always between the mounds, not grabbing two handfuls.

LOL - you really think it was "require[d]" because of a pressing social problem?

Politicians running against unpopular things like the TSA and the annoying parts of air travel is about as impressive as running for 5th grade class president by promising to abolish homework.

The legislation was a waste of time. Federal law supersedes state law. I always love seeing our elected representatives passing laws for the fun of it when there is little doubt about the enforceability.

This particular legislative session has set new standards for idiocy.

I think it has a purpose. for instance if the Senate passes a bill that they know the House will not pass they can always say they did something. It is a way to take an official stand against something and have the majority of names officially taking that stand.
