A very small part of me wishes public education had been federalized 100 years ago, even through to the collegiate level.
Part of me is eternally grateful for graduating high school prior to all of this happening. I can't imagine having to learn based on the ideological whims of ill-appointed legislators.
they're teaching to the test as it is now. allow school vouchers, and then let the parents send their kids to a school that will indoctrinate them as they see fit.
As long as a school must admit any student that wants to get in if it is to take vouchers. If the number of open seats outweighs demand, then it goes to a lottery system.

There are a lot of partisian liberal public school teachers, so it sounds like a way to equalize them. Then again, those same teachers are going to bad mouth this state regardless, so why waste money
Utter stupidity. The way it works with many social conservatives/Republicans/however-they-choose-to-self-identify is that if you don't explicitly endorse the conservative agenda you are clearly a liberal socialist and out to do them in. Do you know why conservative leaders endorse this sort of nonrational reactionary rhetoric? Because it's a method used to solidify the unthinking base so that they can grab more power. I'm gonna use this quotation again because I so frequently find myself siding with Democrats for only one real reason:
