I was talking to my business partner last night about how Texas ended up being in the US. I brought up that as part of the agreement Texas could divide itself into 5 states. My understanding was that court ruling in the 20th Century made that invalid but I can't recall what ruling that was and can't find that when Googling Texas Annexation. Does any expert on Texas history know if this was the case or otherwise can Texas still legally split into 5 different states?
That all sounds like federal stuff to me. If there isn't a law or a ruling, they'll make one soon enough, just like Texas v. White. I do not understand the Texas splitting and secession fetishes.
Thanks for the info. It sounds like theoretically at least Texas could still split if they wanted to. Of course that could mean instead of one Ted Cruz there are 5.
Could we split using the four big cities: Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin and label the rest of Texas the Ted Cruz wasteland?
The answer to half of Texas history questions is "Hey partner; here have a beer". Or "Hey schweetie; how'd you get to be so beautiful. Here, have a beer" The other half are dominated by trying to be or trying to get Lyle Lovett Them are facts
