Well, it's that time of year again. Both my real alma-mater (Cy-Creek) and my adopted alma-mater (Odessa Permian) have had great years. Cy-Creek won 15-5A with a 7-0 record after going 0-7 just a year ago. Odessa Permian ran the table (again) and has won 26 of their last 28 games with their only 2 losses coming against that juggernaut Euless Trinity. MOJO is definitely back. Strange that a lot of Houston teams have played 2 or 3 fewer games than non-Houston teams because of Ike. I wonder how that will affect them in the playoffs, if it does at all. I’m going to go with Euless Trinity in Division I and Abilene in Division II. If Euless Trinity and Northshore both make it to the final, that should be a game for the ages. How is your team doing? Watch out for The Woodlands. Only loss of the season came to Lufkin. They destroyed Katy earlier in the season and have pretty much rolled over every team they've played. I almost feel bad for what Westfield is about to go through. My adopted team of Round Rock is facing Cy Ridge here at Round Rock Dragon Stadium. GO DRAGONS!
My alma mater sucks at Football. They didn't even make the playoffs. In fact my senior year we didn't even win a single game. What's disappointing is that we have one of the biggest high schools in the state which would seemingly translate into a talent pool for football players. A silver lining is that we do well in basketball.
i think my school went 0-fer the season. I think we are being Cy-Creeked. That means all of our talents are being zoned away to other schools, ie Cy-Ridge. I bet we kick ass at soccer.
I would like to see a Katy vs Beaumont West Brook. Besides that the Pflugerville vs Smithson Valley game is a great first round match up.
My alma mater, Nederland, made the 4A playoffs despite being 4-4. They play C.E. King in Dayton. They're going to get beat down.
if I remember correctly, Both have a state title in the last 10yrs. (I thin Pflugervilles wasn 4A though) The Rangers are always good, even in their bad years they compete in the playoffs.
2003 5A-I state championship between the Woodlands and North Shore had 38,000 in attendance. 2yrs ago, the Euless Trinity vs. Southlake Carroll playoff game had close to that amount.
Reliant Stadium is also scheduled to host both the Class 5A Division I and II Title Games this year on December 20th. Division II championship game at 2pm followed by the Division I championship game at 7pm.
If there was ever a year to beat Katy, this is it. They're down compared to most seasons, but still good. Anyone watched LSU signee Russell Shepard of Cy Ridge play? He's the real deal.
