I just tried this place a friend recommended in Sealy, TX the other day called Hinze's BBQ while driving from Austin to Houston. I've tried a lot of the BBQ places in Houston (Luling City, Goode Company, etc.), and I think Hinze's has them all beat. Anyone else been there? If not, I highly recommend it.

So what are y'alls favorite Texas BBQ joints?

I've never been there but I've heard good things about it.

I have never been to a BBQ joint, especially a chain that I thought was great. I used to think Luthers (not a joint I know) was okay until earlier. I really do like the Goode Company and a place in Humble called Moe's. My favorite BBQ has always been cooked in a someone's backyard with the exception of mine because my BBQ sucks. I'm going to try again in a couple of weeks.

There has been a few "joints" that I really like but I have no idea what the name was. They've mostly been places friends and I find out in the middle of nowhere on road trips. You know the places that are just a shack hooked up to big ass BBQ pit.

previous thread: Where is the absolute best BBQ in Houston?

In Schulenberg, TX, there is a small place called 'city market' (family owned and operated for generations)... On Saturdays, before noon (and ONLY at this time) they sell freshly cooked brisket, whole chickens, and sausage.

Their food is in a class by itself. I've had Goode Co., Otto's, Hickory Hollow... that's good stuff. But the BBQ from that place in Schulenberg (specifically, the brisket and chicken) leaves the others far behind.

If you are still learning....I stumbled across this great resource of information a few days back...got lots of great information that I have found to work well in making the kind of BBQ that will have your entire family beggin you to do the meat at every family function.

my favorite in texas is blacks in lockhart - about 30 minutes southeast of austin. some of the best pork ribs ive had (literally melt off the bone - like butter). for me, its all about the sauce and blacks does that great too.
