I think we can/should beat: Redskins Tennesee [Twice] Oakland and Cleveland So a 5 win season I think is the bear minimum ok .. .4 wins. . . Redskins could be tough Tennesee is in FULL REBUILDING mode. Oakland is a disaster Cleveland is well . . .cleveland Rocket RIver
I can't see us beating any team twice this season. Sorry. We'll beat the Titans once. We'll beat the Raiders. We'll beat Cleveland. To me, the rest is entirely up for grabs. We better beat Washington, though.
Don't forget the Jets and Bills(although they have actually looked good so far). Miami could be beatable as well, they haven't looked too hot so far.
We have a better chance of beating the Jets and Bills than the Skins. Don't let their 0-2 start fool you, Portis and that defense alone could whip us.. hopefully Brunell proves senile once again.
The Dolphins are our best chance for a W out of those 3 teams, they look bad on both offense and defense. The Jets and Pennington are looking pretty good right now though. The Bills are a toss up, they look like crap some games but their defense can step it up in others. Not to make excuses for the team, but we really do have one of the harder schedules in the NFL.
In upcoming games, Washington and Miami could/should be winnable games for us. At least 1 of 2. After that, we have a week where they can work more on timing and consistency. Then Dallas, potentially very tough game. To tell the truth, I still say somewhere between 6 and 10 wins. The x-factors are: Carr's continued improvement (we'll find out soon if top5 rating is a fluke), Gado's impact on helping to solidify a consistent offensive flow, and the damn DL, must mount a REAL pass rush. I do think Mario is going to have a 'field day' with Bledsoe. Just a feeling ... Will it be enough? Dont know. If those 3 factors start showing up consistently, our chances of victory will be greatly enhanced. Personally think Gado is going to be a beast for us. His physical dimension are just scary. 5ft 11 in 226#. Think of a fast man Okoye. The Nigerian Nightmare part II. Hope I'm right. In fact, Gado could really be that missing piece for us to REALLY go places this season.
After watching the first two games, most teams around the league will probably write in the Texans as another open date. The 6-10 win projection is wildly optimistic. I will be shocked if they win 5, which was my orginal projection a few weeks ago. The Eagles and the Colts moved the ball like the Texan's defense wasn't even on the field. Like they were playing against an imaginary team, and I am serious.
The ESPN Power Rankings were actually somewhat nice to the Texans. They think we'll give the Redskins a game this weekend.
See that's a whole 'nother thread. What is this team's biggest need? You could argue that it's still the offensive line. A pro bowl OL could improve both the running and the passing game. And if the offense improves, you improve time of possession, which ultimately helps the defense. All I know is, I watch Texans' games and see Carr in constant danger, while the opposing QB gets all day. How good could Carr, Johnson, and Moulds be with more time? Could Dayne and Gado be good enough with a great offensive line? Football games are won in the trenches... and we ain't winning nothing right now. You need to get a bull down in there.
Couldn't agree more. Or look how Jacksonville got top-flight Defensive lineman across the front four... a huge reason why they are super bowl contenders.
What makes you think the Texans stand a chance to beat the Redskins, Bills or cowboys? Im sure all those teams are writing Houston down as a definate win. Last ime I checked, the skins made the playoffs last year and the cowboys have much more talent than us. They may have a chance against the Bills, but the Texans D probably cant stop Mcgahee and there defense is pretty tough. The Texans have shown me nothing so far that suggests they have what it takes to be competative with any of these teams
You can sort of buy into the Texans' reasoning behind picking Mario, because in football, the line of scrimage is just that important. If it's a close decision between a lineman and a back, go with big man - just like basketball. However, Mario did nothing in college that would even put him Bush's neighborhood as a prospect - he didn't dominate like Bush and Vince Young did. Mario was a workout wonder who vaulted into consideration solely on that basis. At the time of the draft, there was no clear signal that this is the guy, this is the guy who will anchor a championship caliber defense for 10 years. Without the clear signal, there is doubt. And if there was doubt, Bush should've been the pick, the safe pick.
The 2 keys to winning in football. Give your QB time to throw. Give the other QB no time to throw. Its all about the trenches baby. We need some beasts that want to kill somebody.
I wouldn't complain if the Texans racked up a craptacular 1-15 record this year, so long as that one "W" is against Dallas. Forget "winnable" or "being competitive"; that game is an expected win for me.
