This isn’t the official game thread just some where we can talk about week 1. No need to use the offseason thread anymore. THE SEASON IS HERE!! Texans 24 Rams 21
I wouldn't trot a gimpy Stafford out there against the Texans' defense. He has a great arm, but he'd better be mobile. I don't wish injury on anyone. As to the Texans, it won't take long to determine if the hype is justified or not.
I do think it will be close if Stafford can keep upright for the entire 60 minutes and that's a big IF.........I don't want him to get hurt but I won't be mad if he is a game time scratch or leaves after Will gets his first sack on him. Just be close at the end and let the O Line play respectable
I predict I will be eating pot roast and biscuits at half time. You tube TV has not done their yearly deduction for my Sunday Ticket package yet. Might have to manually activate before the gates of streaming hell open Sunday morning
Some people here who apparently feel really good about the offense might be severely disappointed on Sunday.
I wouldn't be surprised, but I sincerely hope they show improvement. It might take a few games to get into a groove. LA won't be in mid season form either.
I mean it feels like a leap to project a Texans offense to be any better than “mid” (it could be) w/ question marks along the O-line, the Mixon injury leading to pinning hope on old gimpy Chubb and a 5th RD rookie, and breaking in rookies in the WR core opposite Nico. That’s going to be the difference between The Texans being a “true” contender or a ceiling of just another winner of an awful division steps below the true contenders in the AFC. Let’s hope Mixon isn’t out all season as some are speculating. Rams & Bucs not an easy pair of foes right out of the gate. Feels like you hope you can beat at least one of them, but which one? Rams and gimpy Stafford on the road or vs The Bucs at home? Don’t feel great about either I’m afraid.
Yep. This is why the defense probably must lead the way because I don't expect the offense to score over 20. IMO, both defenses are set up to dominate but, unlike the Texans, the Rams have an established running game (which they'll need). Expect lots of punts. This might be a game only Texans and Rams fans can love.
Houston gets both early games that I wanted to see (PIT@NYJ on CBS and NYG@WAS on Fox) and the Thu/Fri/Sun/Mon night slate of games is excellent. The NFL knocked the opening week schedule out of the park this year.
I do feel like our defense will keep most games tight even if we struggle on defense. If you are close there is always a chance.
