According to Rotoworld.com, the Texans are bringing in David Givens for a visit on Sunday. They are also listed among the suiters for Eagles Tackle Jon Runyan. I'm happy to see the Texans are at least bringing guys in that could help right away. David Givens will meet with the Dolphins Saturday. There's been a ton of interest for the possession receiver due to the lack of a strong market for the position. Givens will follow with a trip to Houston. He's considered the top guy available. Mar. 11 - 10:44 am et Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel Eagles' RT Jon Runyan is drawing a lot of interest on the market. The Bills, Cardinals, Bucs, and Texans are believed to have interest in the 32-year-old tackle who hasn't missed a start since 1996. Mar. 11 - 10:30 am et Source: Trenton Times
The Houston Texans are hot after Ravens defensive end Anthony Weaver. Weaver will be one of their first interviews, and the Texans are expected to try go sign him over the weekend. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2363621
Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports free agent QB Sage Rosenfels (Dolphins) will visit with the Houston Texans Saturday, March 11, according to a source
Givens would be a nice addition to the team? I don't understand why we're going after Weaver, he's a 3-4 DE, which is exactly what we don't need.
I was thinking the same thing. But I guess he played the 4-3 last year since the Ravens coverted from a 3-4 to 4-3 last year.
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports free agent C Mike Flanagan (Packers) will visit with the Houston Texans on Saturday, March 11.
Just ask Runyan would you rather block for Brian Westbrook or Reggie Bush David Givens would be a huge pickup for our offense.
Ravens' D-line takes a hit Team loses Kemoeatu, Weaver on first day of free agency By Jamison Hensley Sun Reporter Originally published March 11, 2006, 2:43 PM EST The Ravens have lost two starting defensive linemen on the first day of free agency. Nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu agreed in principle with the Carolina Panthers and defensive end Tony Weaver reached a deal with the Houston Texans. Kemoeatu, who was considered the Ravens' top priority, will sign a five-year, $23 million deal which includes $8 million in bonuses. Weaver is expected to receive $13 million in guaranteed money http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/football/bal-ravens311,0,7763196.story?coll=bal-sports-football
Here's the scouting report in Weaver from Insider: Meet you're new strong side DE. ESPN had him ranked as the #15 free agent and #2 DE. I was hoping for Mario Williams, but oh well. It's beginning to look more and more like Reggie Bush is going to be a Texan next year.
Weaver's a very nice pickup. I notice that he's a native of lovely Abilene, Texas, as well. I'd like to see us grab an LB and some offensive line help through free agency and then draft Bush and Pope, the TE from Georgia.
Running with it: The Texans added a fullback in Jameel Cook of the Bucs Saturday in what could be adding to an enhanced backfield. Domanick Davis is the starting running back but the Texans are looking at drafting Reggie Bush with the first pick. The signing of Cook gives them a blocking back in what should be an enhanced running game. The Texans will decide in a month whether or not to draft Bush or take quarterback Vince Young. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2364242 Double SPLASH!!!! Jameel Cook career stats. 3 Attempts 1 Yard
